Sarah Pidgeon is embarking on a new love story with Joe Alwyn.
“They met at an industry event and were introduced around awards season this year,” a source exclusively tells Us Weekly of the pair’s budding romance. “They are casually dating and are really into each other.”
The insider adds that Alwyn and Pidgeon’s romantic relationship is “still pretty new,” adding that the pair have “been going on lowkey dates in NYC for a few months now trying to keep things under the radar.”
“Both Sarah and Joe are very intellectual, private and laid-back people, so it feels like a really compatible match,” the source says. “They share similar personalities and enjoy spending time together away from the spotlight.”
Us Weekly reached out to Alwyn and Pidgeon’s reps for comment.
Speculation regarding the nature of the pair’s relationship began earlier this month, when Alwyn, 35, and Pidgeon, 29, were spotted on an outing in Brooklyn. Days later, the duo was seen enjoying a PDA-filled date in the neighborhood, per photos obtained by Page Six. In one pic, Alwyn and Pidgeon cuddled up together and kissed while enjoying drinks.
While Pidgeon has not been in any public relationships, Alwyn famously dated Taylor Swift from 2016 to 2023. One year later, Alwyn broke his silence on his split from Swift, 36, and the rumors that several songs from her album The Tortured Poets Department were inspired by the breakup.
“In thinking on what I was going to say, I would think and hope that anyone and everyone can empathize … This isn’t a direct answer to your question, but just thinking about what I want to talk about,” Alwyn told The Sunday Times when asked if he listened to Swift’s album. “I would hope that anyone and everyone can empathize and understand the difficulties that come with the end of a long, loving, fully committed relationship of over six and a half years.”
He continued, “That is a hard thing to navigate. What is unusual and abnormal in this situation is that, one week later, it’s suddenly in the public domain and the outside world is able to weigh in.”
At the time, Alwyn declined to mention whether he was still in contact with his ex or had begun dating again. (Swift, for her part, has been in a relationship with Travis Kelce since 2023. The couple are rumored to be tying the knot in July.)
“I’m sure you can appreciate, given the level of noise and scrutiny about my past relationship, why I wouldn’t want to just open the door to things like that right now,” he said. “I try and live in reality and away from the kind of online noise of Twitter — or wherever else it comes from — and try and just stay in the moment.”
