World Cup tourists are fawning over ‘this redneck crash course’ — including a trip to Buc-ee’s

They came for the World Cup — but instead got a “redneck crash course” — deep in the heart of Texas.

A group of international soccer tourists fell head over boots for America after a Texas man invited them to his 30-acre ranch for a two-day tour of four-wheeling, two-stepping and a trip to Buc-ee’s, according to CBS Evening News.

Drew Haas, of South Central Texas, hosted two couples visiting from Poland and France, giving them a muddy, off-road taste of his home state while World Cup fever sweeps across the US.

Haas said he wanted to show the visitors “my Texas” — the version of America he knows and loves.

The result was kind of a redneck cultural exchange, complete with pickup trucks tearing through the muck, cowboy dancing lessons and a pilgrimage to Buc-ee’s, the beloved Texas-sized gas station chain, with 98 gas pumps and aisles of pure roadside Americana.

David Mazur and Martina Bijinska, identified by CBS News as a couple from Silesia in southwestern Poland, said the experience felt like stepping into a movie.

Mazur said his father grew up watching John Wayne westerns, making the trip a chance to see that slice of America for himself.

Bijinska admitted she was skeptical at first — until the off-road ride and cowboy culture won her over.

“I was a bit skeptical at first, but then I just feel like, yes, I can do this all day,” she told CBS.

Haas also taught the visitors how to dance the two-step, walking them through the moves before they took a spin Texas-style.

Haas took them off-road in his pickup truck, splashing through the mud on his property.

For Haas, watching strangers fall in love with his version of America was emotional.

His “soul’s been lit on fire,” he told CBS, saying the joy came from seeing visitors soak up the place he calls home.

The visitors seemed just as taken with the experience, soaking up every muddy, cowboy-booted second.

“We love this lifestyle, we enjoy every second of it, we just want to soak it in,” Mazur said.

Haas said the moment captured the America he wants to live in — one where strangers can bond over pickup trucks, two-stepping and a Buc-ee’s run big enough to feel like a tourist attraction.
