Mother knows breast: Moms are baking breastmilk into family foods to ward off the flu

Tits the season. 

Coughing, sniffling and sneezing are, unfortunately, au courant among kiddos and adults alike now that the sun has officially set on summer, ushering in the chilly change in temperatures and sickness statuses. 

Lactating new mommies, however, are utilizing their mammaries to keep their households in perfect health this time of year, spiking baked goods with the good nutrients found in their buxom supplies. 

“Breast milk cures everything,” Camille Smith, 33, a mother of four, from Dallas, Texas, captioned footage of herself dumping her own dairy, rather than cow’s milk or a plant-based product, into Funfetti cupcake mix to feed to her ailing brood. 

While disgusted detractors, sickened by the not-so-secret ingredient, chastised the content creator for her viral “mom hack,” commenting chides like “Eww,” “You’re a mess,” and “This is why you can’t eat at everyone’s house,” fans of the trick lauded Smith a “genius mom,” and hailed her nectar “liquid gold.”

It’s a boobie prize endowed with eye-popping perks. 

Breast milk, lauded a “super-food” of sorts for its bounty of antibodies, macronutrients, vitamins and immune-protective components, has recently risen as a recipe must-have for parents determined to remedy everything from minor irritations to infectious diseases. 

But the benefits of mama’s milk aren’t limited to the immune system — and they sure aren’t exclusive to babies. 

From nursing preteens who continue suckling mom’s spout for bonding purposes well past infancy, to bodybuilders buying the ambrosia online at $1,000 a pop, hoping the sauce helps them bulk up in the gym, breast milk’s got the juice. 

Researchers from China have even just discovered that school-aged children, ranging in age from 10 to 15, who were breastfed for longer periods perform better in mathematics and language arts than kids who were cut off earlier.

But when it comes to adding it to foods prepared in the microwave or oven, the Center of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) does warn that the heat can destroy a faction of the nutrients found in breastmilk. 

Still, mothers cheffing their sauce into medicine feel they know best.
