The City of Angels is getting a major waterfront glow-up just in time for summer — and music lovers (and FIFA World Cup fans) are about to reap the rewards.

The crown jewel of the long-awaited $500 million West Harbor mega-project, located in the Los Angeles South Bay neighborhood of San Pedro, is its new 6,200-seat oceanfront amphitheater, poised to become one of California’s premier live music hubs.

With the Pacific Ocean as its dramatic backdrop, the open-air venue promises epic concerts, major touring acts, and large-scale events right on the ocean’s edge.

West Harbor, a sprawling 42-acre district along one full mile of waterfront, is finally throwing open its doors this summer. The development brings 300,000 square feet of retail, dining and entertainment to the waterfront, transforming what was once the old Ports O’ Call Village into a vibrant coastal destination.

The amphitheater, which will be operated by Nederlander Concerts (the team behind multiple high-profile venues across the US including LA’s Greek Theatre), kicks off its programming this summer by hosting an official Los Angeles World Cup 26 Fan Zone.

Soccer fans will fill the waterfront space on July 14, 15, 18, and 19 to catch the tournament’s final rounds on giant screens, complete with interactive activations and food vendors.

Expect the venue to draw big-name artists eager for the intimate-yet-spectacular setting. Whether it’s sunset concerts or full-blown festivals, this ocean-view spot is a far cry from typical inland arenas.

But the amphitheater isn’t the only draw. West Harbor will also feature one of California’s tallest Ferris wheels — a massive waterfront wheel up to 175-feet tall and offering panoramic views of the harbor, Vincent Thomas Bridge and USS Iowa. It’s roughly 50% taller than the Pacific Wheel at Santa Monica Pier, according to KTLA 5.

Additional highlights include an expanded San Pedro Fish Market, padel and pickleball courts, bike rentals and harbor cruises.

The West Harbor public opening aligns with the 2026 World Cup kickoff influx and is already generating serious buzz as a game-changer for tourists and locals alike.

Details and tickets for the Fan Zone and upcoming events are available via the West Harbor site.
