Karmelo Anthony is being housed in isolation, separated from other inmates, following his conviction for the murder of Austin Metcalf, according to jail authorities.
The 19-year-old, who was sentenced to 35 years in jail on Tuesday, is being kept in a more secure area of Collin County Jail in Texas, away from the general inmate population, as authorities at the prison look to ensure the safety and security of all inmates, a representative told The Post Wednesday.
“Mr Anthony is in custody at the Collin County Sheriff’s Office Detention Facility. He is not housed in the general inmate population,” the rep said.
The rep did not give any comment on exactly why Anthony specifically is being kept in isolation.
Anthony, who was found guilty of fatally stabbing 17-year-old Metcalf at a track meet in April 2025, will ultimately move to a state prison to serve his sentence, although no exact date has been given for the transfer from county lockup.
A jury in McKinney, Texas, took just three hours to convict Anthony of murder, after the teen claimed that he had acted in self-defense, despite Metcalf being unarmed while his killer had a knife.
