Odette Annable is officially a Hallmark leading lady with her debut in Kentucky Roses — but will her husband, Dave Annable, be next to join the network?

“We’ve worked together before, and we’ve actually shot a Christmas rom-com, and that was a great time,” Odette, 40, exclusively told Us Weekly of possibly bringing Dave, 46, into the Hallmark universe now that she’s starred in her first rom-com for the network, Kentucky Roses, premiering Saturday, May 2.

She teased that “absolutely in the future” she’d like to have Dave as a scene partner for Hallmark, but for now he’s “busy” working on season 3 of Lioness for Paramount+ in Fort Worth, Texas.

“I always say he likes working with me more than I like working with him,” Odette joked, telling Us that “because he’s my husband, we see each other all the time” so she is OK acting alongside other leading men.

“I’m like, ‘What more?’” she added. “‘How much more do we need?’”

Odette added that if the “opportunity ever presented itself” to do a Hallmark film together, however, “We would love that.”

For now, Odette told Us that Dave, with whom she shares two daughters, will be joining her at the 2026 Kentucky Derby so they can “experience it together” for the first time.

This year, the annual horse race takes place the same day her first Hallmark movie, Kentucky Roses, premieres, in which she plays Sadie Moore.

“[Sadie] comes from a long lineage of greenhouse workers,” Odette shared with Us during a joint interview with her movie costar Andrew Walker. “And there’s a real greenhouse at Churchill Downs that we shot in, which was really amazing.”

Odette explained that Sadie’s “aspirations” are more aligned with becoming a florist, so as the movie progresses, fans will see her “trying to find herself, get those goals” and “go after her purpose.”

The actress teased that for Sadie, “Love was not at the forefront of her mind. But of course, she meets Ash Taylor, played by the wonderful Andrew Walker, and their love story unfolds in this really fun, beautiful, organic, I would say, way.”

Walker, a Hallmark staple after his 2012 network debut, exclusively told Us that he has been “trying to do this movie for a while” after knowing someone from Kentucky whose family member is the CEO of Churchill Downs, home of the annual Kentucky Derby horse races.

When it comes to his character, Walker called Ash “a guy that goes after what he wants” and one that “swore he’d never come back and work for his dad.”

However, when one of the spires at Churchill Downs is damaged, Ash gets a call from his father and agrees to come back and help as it’s only two weeks until the big race.

“He coaxes me into staying for the two weeks and fixing the spires. And it just so happens that Sadie is there,” Walker, 46, teased.

Odette chimed in, adding, “Let’s just say the fireworks start going off, literally.”

According to Hallmark, Kentucky Roses, which was filmed at Kentucky’s Churchill Downs, is about a greenhouse worker and the son of Churchill Downs’ CEO “coming together to save the Kentucky Derby rose blanket and uncovering a generational love story along the way.”

Kentucky Roses premieres on Hallmark Channel Saturday, May 2, at 8 p.m. ET. It is available to stream the next day on Hallmark+.
