Woman accused of biting chunk out of victim’s forehead in ‘zombie bite’ attack

A blood-curdling, random attack in downtown Seattle last week left a woman with injuries to her face similar to a “zombie bite,” she said.

Diana Gonzalez, 36, was walking to a 7/11 when a crazed suspect, identified as homeless woman Kamilia Chadli, threw a food wrapper at her. When Gonzalez questioned her actions, Chadli allegedly spit on her, used a homophobic slur, and called her “the inferior race.”

Chadli then allegedly began assaulting her, tossing her to the ground.

Then, horrifyingly, Chadli allegedly took a bloody bite out of Gonzalez’s forehead. A nearby witness pulled the women apart and pursued Chadli after she allegedly fled the scene. Seattle police would later apprehend her, and she has been charged with felony second-degree assault.

Gonzalez needed to be hospitalized and is recovering.

The bite horrified the woman, who was just looking for a drink to quench her thirst while working at her job when the alleged assault happened.

“This was a totally random attack,” Gonzalez told NBC 16 in an interview, a large white bandage covering her forehead. “She started yelling racist things after throwing trash and spitting on me. Then she bit my face — she bit a piece of my face off.”

The Seattle woman said when she was first shown her injury, she was utterly stunned.

“I was like ‘Oh my god,’ because it looks like a zombie bite, like in a movie that you would see,” she said.

Gonzalez will be left with permanent injuries on her forehead, police said. The woman allegedly removed a piece of flesh from her head that is about one inch in diameter. Law enforcement, disgustingly, found a piece of flesh in a nearby grate that Chadli allegedly spat out.

Pictures shared with NBC 16 showed the extent of Gonzalez’s injuries, with blood pouring down the right side of her face. She needed a skin graft to close the wound, police said.

Police initially booked Chadli in the King County Jail on suspicion of a hate crime before prosecutors eventually charged her with second-degree assault. She remains jailed on $150,000 bail, with her upcoming arraignment scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Sept. 28.

Gonzalez wants Chadli’s charge to remain the same and hopes she receives a lengthy prison sentence and gets mental help even if she takes a plea deal.

“I’m just concerned that she would do it again because it was so random,” she said.

The victim still hasn’t gotten over how shocking it was that a woman on the street would be brazen enough to bite her flesh off.

“I can’t believe she bit a piece of my face off,” Gonzalez said. “That’s the main thing that is still shocking. I can’t believe it.”
