Uber unveiled the most bizarre items passengers left behind during rides over the last year — and New York City clinched the badge of dishonor as the most “forgetful” metropolis in the US.
The rideshare company published its 10th annual “Lost & Found Index” on Tuesday, treating the public to a rare inside look at the behind-the-scenes nonsense drivers deal with daily.
The oddball carry-ons passengers lost in their rides range from strangely intimate to possibly criminal.
One traveler abandoned an ankle monitor. Another somehow misplaced a child’s prosthetic eye and a third left behind dentures with just two teeth.
A squad of stoners left crumbs aplenty in their wake — and donuts likely laced with marijuana for a 4/20 celebration, according to Uber’s report.
Other drivers were unlucky enough to find condoms and body oil wedge between their car’s seats. Some compiled enough abandoned kitchenware, including an entire dishwasher and a double door oven, to pull off their own home renovation.
Uber said that the most items were lost during rides on July 17, 2025 — a day that holds no real significance.
Unsurprisingly, the item most riders lost was their mobile phone, according to the index.
The Big Apple reigned supreme as the most “forgetful” city in the country for the second year in a row. Newark, New Jersey came in at number 10.
In April 2025, Uber unveiled the annual report alongside a pop-up in Manhattan, where employees gave away some of the misplaced valuables. Some, like a chainsaw and raw hamburger patties, were merely put on display.
In 2023, one dim-wit passenger exited the car without their pet poodle. In 2022, another traveler ditched 500 grams of caviar — which can sell for upwards of $2,500, depending on the type.
Customers who believe they’ve lost an item in an Uber car can use the app’s “Find Lost Item” feature to reconnect them with their driver to aid the search.
