President Trump on Friday described Israel’s attack on Iran as “excellent” — and warned there’s “a lot more” to come as he blamed Tehran for not taking a nuclear deal earlier.
“I think it’s been excellent,” Trump told ABC News in the wake of Israel’s deadly onslaught of strikes trying to halt Iran’s terrifying nuclear program.
“They got hit hard, very hard. They got hit about as hard as you’re going to get hit. And there’s more to come. A lot more.”
Israel has said it had “no choice” but to launch the large-scale airstrikes in an attempt to destroy Iran’s nuclear program.
Iran quickly responded by launching 100 drones and calling it a “declaration of war.”
Trump earlier pointed the finger at Iran as he urged them to finally make a deal “before there is nothing left.”
“I gave Iran chance after chance to make a deal,” Trump wrote in a flurry of Truth Social posts early Friday.
“I told them, in the strongest of words, to ‘just do it,’ but no matter how hard they tried, no matter how close they got, they just couldn’t get it done.
“There has already been great death and destruction, but there is still time to make this slaughter, with the next already planned attacks being even more brutal, come to an end,” he continued.
“Iran must make a deal, before there is nothing left, and save what was once known as the Iranian Empire. No more death, no more destruction, JUST DO IT, BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE.”
In a follow up post, Trump argued that Iran should have secured a deal months ago.
“Two months ago I gave Iran a 60 day ultimatum to ‘make a deal.’ They should have done it! Today is day 61. I told them what to do, but they just couldn’t get there. Now they have, perhaps, a second chance!” he wrote.
