A food truck for the unfortunately named “TNT Tacos” violently exploded in Tennessee, leaving the husband and wife owners hospitalized with severe burns just a day before their 25th wedding anniversary.
Tiffany and Tim McPherson were doing the day’s prep inside their truck in rural Atwood last week when it suddenly blew up, pinning Tiffany against a wall as the flames raged around them.
“From the force of the explosion I was blown back against the far wall where our sinks are and I was trapped,” Tiffany revealed in a GoFundMe page — in which she praised her husband for putting hiw own life on the line to save her.
Tim had been blown towards the door and “could’ve easily ran out but chose to come back and get me and drag me out,” Tiffany said.
He ran through “hell” and busted both of them out the door together to safety, she said.
They were airlifted after the June 4 blast to a hospital in Nashville — more than 100 miles away — and have each undergone surgeries, including skin grafting, for serious second- and third-degree burns across their bodies.
The day after the explosion, the McPhersons celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary at the hospital covered in gauze and in pain — but still together and holding hands, according to photos posted by their daughter, Jada Pastrana, who started the fundraiser.
“It is truly a miracle and blessing they’re both alive,” Pastrana wrote on the GoFundMe page.
Pastrana said that her parents are expected to remain hospitalized for a few months and undergo additional surgeries.
“Tim and I are survivors and we are in the process of surviving. We will always be forever grateful for the outpouring of love and support,“ Tiffany wrote.
TNT Tacos was destroyed in the blast, with photos posted to the fundraising page showing its charred remains. The cause of the explosion remains under investigation by local fire officials.
