The planet of drive and desire is forming a tense square with our luminary of death and transformation this week, and a select few will really be feeling the fallout.
On Wednesday, Sept. 24, Mars in Scorpio will square Pluto retrograde in Aquarius.
It’s a “Yikes!” moment, folks, and while the square is exact on the date, we’ll be feeling the effects of this friction for several days before and after.
“When Mars in Scorpio squares Pluto RX in Aquarius on Sept. 24, you’re going to notice. This transit is loud, folks! When the planet of action, movement and conflict crashes into our mysterious, outer-dwarf planet of power and transformation … sparks will fly,” Rachel Ruth Tate, a certified astrologer at Casinos Analyzer, told The Post.
A square aspect forms when two planets are three zodiac signs apart, or separated by roughly 90 degrees. This creates a tug of war between the themes and energies of each.
In kind and in not-so-kind, squares naturally foster conflicts, struggle, tension and drama.
Mars is currently slashing and burning in the Scorpionic swamp of sex, secrets, capes, sulking and insider power plays. Meanwhile, Pluto is retrograding through the weirder-than-a-box-of-hair, revolution over romance and progress at all costs sign of Aquarius.
Tate shared that while squares bring conflicting viewpoints to a critical head, their mutual objective is a beneficial outcome for all.
“Mars in Scorpio wants to focus on and dominate issues in its fixed water way, while Pluto in Aquarius intends to incite the masses and rewrite the old rulebook about how to address issues with its fixed air technique,” said Tate.
Tate notes that this transit triggers fear, the breaking of old patterns, and painful but powerful metamorphosis.
“Change can be overwhelming, and it is natural to feel a little scared with Mars square Pluto. The real alchemy of this transit, if you can muster the resolve, is to turn the lead of that apprehension into the gold of the courage it takes to face your fears, wherever they may arise,” said Tate.
While we’ll all be under the influence and in the hell mouth of this transit, three signs in particular will be most affected by Mars square Pluto.

“The planet of will power and strength is at home and in your sign, Scorpio. There is no task you can’t handle right now, and you can be sure there is going to be plenty to do,” said Tate.
She shared what Scorpios innately understand: anything worth receiving or achieving requires a certain amount of sacrifice.
“But you’re locked in, Scorpio, and more than ready to fight the battles that you’re bound to face.”
Aries is ruled by Mars, and the jock planet’s slide into Scorpio lends the people of the ram a much-needed jolt of inspiration and acceleration.
“This charged square Mars is making with Pluto RX serves to juice you up, and you best believe you’ll need that firepower to face whatever is ahead. Don’t listen to the chorus of naysayers — you know what you need to do and where you want to go, and you’ve got enough gas in the tank to get there.”
Tate explains that though Capricorn is ruled by Saturn, planet Mars is exalted in the sign of the sea goat.
“Your exalted ruler is going up against the powerful, discordant aims of Pluto RX in Aquarius… the other sign that Saturn rules. You’re getting hit from both sides, Cap, and might find yourself in the middle of an immense struggle. Despite the Herculean proportions of what you’ve got to do, there is nothing that will stop you, short of your own choice to back down.”
