The end of the world as we know it: Astrologer explains how Pluto out of bounds will burn it al down

Change is afoot and upheaval is at hand, folks.

Pluto, our petite power planet of destruction, debts, power, control, sexuality, and transformation, is going out of bounds and off the rails for the next ten years in the sign of Aquarius.

A planet is considered out of bounds when it moves beyond the outer limits of the Sun. The energy of a planet out of bounds is over the top, amplified, and more than a little unhinged. In kind and here on Earth, we begin acting up and out in the areas of life governed by said planet.

What is a planet out of bounds

Planets can be out of bounds to the North or the South, the North correlating to the underbelly expression of the planet and the South to its better angels.

Pluto, named for the mythical god of the underworld, is our planet of the hidden, power dynamics, cataclysm, long walks through hell, and the impetus to burn it down to rebuild it better.

Pluto will go out of bounds to the South in the sign of Aquarius on August 29th, where it shall remain for roughly a decade.

“Pluto out of bounds is an even greater accelerator of change,” evolutionary astrologer Jill Brown of Eight Stars Astrology told The Post.

What happens when Pluto is out of bounds

Brown shared that Pluto out of bounds has historically correlated with key patterns and seismic, collective shifts.

“Pluto out of bounds to the North tends to be regimes, dictators, autocrats, and authoritarians, a hostile takeover type intensity that emerges when Pluto battles shadow themes of power and control.”

In kind and abject horror, the last time Pluto was out of bounds to the North it coincided with World War II, including but not limited to the Holocaust, the dark rise and abuse of nuclear power, and the U.S.’s internment of Japanese-American citizens.

In contrast, Pluto, out of bounds to the South, while no less intense, is associated with more progressive, rebellious themes.

“Pluto out of bounds to the South tends to be a lot more reformation, reclaiming of power by the collective, people looking at power dynamics and any type of authoritarianism and being like, ‘wait a minute, I don’t know that this really works for us anymore.’”

The last time Pluto went out of bounds to the South was from 1778 to 1788, a period that coincided with the American Revolution, the French Revolution, and the British Industrial Revolution.

Prior to that stint, Pluto’s out-of-bounds movement to the South coincided with the literal Reformation movement.

“Martin Luther emerged and began criticizing the Catholic Church for its corruption and totalitarianism; meanwhile, Henry VIII broke away from the church, and John Calvin founded Calvinism. In general, a time of people reassessing what it means to have a power structure and a control system that’s been in place for a very long time.”

Now, Pluto is poised to swing South again, and we’re braced for a real deal reckoning.

“I think overall it’s a very positive transit, but it’s going to be really intense. It’s going to be a lot of change, because you look at those historical periods where it happened before, and they were not low-key.”

“It’s going to get really messy and chaotic because we’ve never done whatever it is we’re about to do before.”

Jill Brown

And while Brown notes that people fear change and that turning the tide of it is rarely a tidy affair, it is always necessary and often marks the breaking point before progress. She shared that (unfortunately) there will not be an immediate shift or switch but rather a slow unfolding of upheaval.

Power struggles and uncomfortable truths

“It’s chaotic and icky, and some people don’t want to go with the change. It’s going to get messy and chaotic because we’ve never done whatever it is we’re about to do before. The outcome is positive, but the journey through that change is very disruptive, and it impacts a lot of people in a lot of different ways.”

After this transit, Pluto will not go out of bounds to the South for another 2,000 years.

Pluto represents raw, unflinching honesty, and its out-of-bounds transit may force us to face some uncomfortable and disconcerting truths. Brown believes this could lead to questions about where our food comes from, the consequences of our purchases, and how we trade our ideals for idealized convenience.

“We’re going to get really honest with ourselves about our government, our food systems, and our health care systems. It’s going to be a total systematic dismantling or at least reformation of what we know.”

She predicts that we will be called out of the pattern of apathy and into active participation in and for our beliefs.

She notes that technology, and in particular AI, will play a major part in how this out-of-bounds cycle will unfold.

“We’re seeing this rapid acceleration of technology. I think that technology will be a very positive thing, but it’s going to go through some growing pains before it does. I could see AI not being great before we figure out how to really use it in a way that benefits mankind and not just corporations or oligarchs.”

Because Pluto will be out of bounds in Aquarius, a sign ruled by the conflicting energy of structure (Saturn) and subversions of structure (Uranus), this transit is a summons to sure up our personal boundaries and act in accordance with our moral compasses.

“We have to ask, ‘Who do we love?’ and how do we use our shamanistic detective skills to really discern who the right people are to let into our lives. There will be a lot of emphasis on learning healthy boundaries, how we enforce them, and how we stand up for them in our communities. We’re going to stand up for ourselves and embrace healthy power dynamics.”

Brown predicts that this transit will bring about a radical restructuring of the world as we know it.

“I can see at the end of it a total reform in our government, in our two-party political system, and in how we open up to free trade. I think an isolationist economic policy is disastrous in the long term. It never serves anybody.”

It is Brown’s hope that this transit will expand our capacity for humanity.

“We really are all one, and you just can’t do something and not have it impact someone somewhere else. We can be different as long as we honor the sovereignty of others. My hope is we come to terms with certain basic universal truths; every human being has value and should have basic rights and access to food and access to movement and access to freedom, because otherwise, what are we even doing here?”

Brown notes that the ingress of outer planets like Saturn and Neptune into the warrior sign of Aries and Jupiter into the compassionate tides of Cancer aids and abets our ability to be both a force for and facilitators of profound, and profoundly brave, revolutionary change.

“I view it as an opportunity. Let’s make it a hopeful, exciting, courageous place to be.”
