A Florida middle school teacher is accused of dating the mother of one of his students just so he could “get closer” to her 13-year-old daughter and then ultimately rape her, according to police.
In a plot seemingly out of Vladimir Nabokov’s notorious novel “Lolita,” Daniel Le Lievre, 41, allegedly groomed the teenager for months while in a romantic relationship with her mother before he raped her at his home.
When the relationship ended, Le Lievre — who has two daughters of his own — allegedly told the woman he only dated her to “get closer to her” daughter, according to a police report obtained by WFLA.
Le Lievre taught at Tuskawilla Middle School in Oviedo, Florida, and had previously been investigated in 2024 for violating policies related to “student abuse, abandonment and neglect” and relationship with students, according to the Orlando Sentinel.
He was arrested at his home on Monday on multiple charges, including sexual battery.
He allegedly had sex with the student while she was 13 over the 2023-2024 holiday break at his home while the girl’s mother and her children were spending the night at his house.
The student told investigators she went to the bathroom in the middle of the night on Christmas Eve and was followed by Le Lievre. He told her to strip her clothes and had sex with her, before telling her not to tell anyone, according to the Sentinel.
The mother and daughter reported the sexual assault to police in February 2026.
Le Lievre and the victim’s mom started a romantic relationship in Oct. 2023 and the teacher would sometimes stay at her home with her and her kids during their four-month fling, cops said.
While they were dating, the mom caught Le Lievre and her daughter having late-night phone conversations and saw them holding hands while at the Disney Springs shopping complex in Orlando.
The sick teacher went as far as teaching the girl Morse Code so they could communicate in secret, according to the complaint. He also allegedly created “throwaway” email addresses to speak with her and ask her to delete records of their conversations.
Meanwhile at school, Le Lievre would spend time alone with the victim in his classroom before and after school where they’d hold hands and hug, and he would sometimes rub her thighs, according to police.
He had a drawer in his classroom where he kept her perfume and a blanket and he made scheduling changes so she’d be in another one of his classes, according to police.
The teacher allegedly made his sick confession to the victim’s mother about only wanting to get close to her daughter when they split up in Jan. 2024.
Le Lievre had previously been investigated by Seminole County Public Schools in 2024 for violating policies related to “student abuse, abandonment and neglect” and relationship with students, according to the Sentinel.
Seminole County Public Schools confirmed to WESH that Le Lievre resigned before he could be fired in 2024 and is not eligible for rehire.
“The safety of our students and staff is our highest priority, and any type of behavior that undermines that safety will not be tolerated at Seminole County Public Schools,” school officials wrote in a statement.
Le Lievre has two daughters, according to a profile on the district’s website. He previously served in the Peace Corps and taught overseas in Samoa and South Korea before returning to South Florida to raise his family, the page states.
Le Lievre is charged with custodial sexual battery and sex offense by an authority figure soliciting a romantic relationship with a student. He is being held without bond, jail records show.
