A substitute teacher from Texas has been charged with having an improper relationship with students.

Angela Palmares, 27, was arrested without incident in Bell County on Wednesday and charged with improper relationship between an educator and student, a second-degree felony. She is being held on a $150,000 bond, jail records show.

She was busted after school officials notified police about “inappropriate communication with students, specifically through a social media platform outside of the school day,” Mac Edwards, Superintendent of Llano Independent School District, said in a letter to families.

Neither the sheriff’s office nor the school district shared details about chats. It was also unclear how many students were involved, or how old they were.

Palmaras, who last worked for the district on April 2, was immediately removed from the district’s list of available substitutes, according to the Llano County Sheriff’s Office.

The school has been in contact with the parents of the students impacted, Edwards said of the ongoing investigation.

“The district takes all allegations of this nature extremely seriously and remains committed to providing a safe and supportive environment to students,” he said.

“At this time, we are unable to provide additional details due to personnel and student privacy considerations.”
