Not the kind of “secrete” ingredient she was looking for.

A Brazilian tourist in Italy was shocked and appalled after waitstaff at a restaurant instructed the chef to “spit” in her food as an alleged goof.

“I’m still in shock, I can’t believe this happened to me,” victim Maria Clara told local media.

Clara and her family had been visiting the Victor Lab, a restaurant on the Viale Ceccarini in Romagna, Italy on August 19th, La Voce di Cesenatico reported.

She ordered a seemingly normal vacation breakfast of scrambled eggs, juice, and coffee, but things got off to a rocky start after the scramble arrived and the diner noticed that it was a bit runny.

When Clara politely asked her server if she could have “the eggs a little more cooked,” he scoffed that they “don’t make raw eggs here,” she claimed.

“In the end, they arrived very soft, but I didn’t ask for them to be recooked,” the customer recalled. “I let it go because I didn’t want to argue,” Clara said that her order came with a salad even though she asked them to hold it, local media reported.

That’s when Clara noticed a horrifying message on her receipt, which she included in a one-star Google review of Victor Lab. It read: “This is pissing me off. Burn the eggs and spit in them.”

Initially thinking it was a “joke,” she said the family became “scared” over the possibility of their food getting seasoned with expectorate and flagged the managers.

She said that this made the culprit — a 17-year-old server — go “white” and get “very nervous.” Hoping to save face — and perhaps his job — the stammering lad “apologized and said it was a joke between him and the chef,” Clara recounted.

He even tried to throw the receipt away, but she threatened to call the police if he did so.

The restaurant subsequently apologized to Clara under her review.

“The behavior you reported was absolutely inappropriate and in no way reflects the values, customer service, and professional standards we strive to ensure every day,” they wrote.

They added that the perpetrator was a teen who had been employed for a few weeks, but said that this “does not diminish the gravity of what happened.”

However, the signals became somewhat mixed after Victor Lab uploaded a video to their TikTok account that appeared to poke fun at the incident.

In it, the restaurant owner portrayed a demanding customer who orders a dish with “spit.”

There was also a poll inquiring whether the 17-year-old server should be canned.

“Sometimes it almost makes you laugh when you watch it, but this isn’t a laughing matter.
It’s serious,” said Clara, who asked that they keep her last name under wraps as she has received death threats and racist insults.
