Steve Hilton floats pact to bring Spencer Pratt into governor’s race: ‘100%, I’d love that’

Spencer Pratt may still have a major role to play in California politics after losing his bid for Los Angeles mayor.

Republican gubernatorial candidate Steve Hilton, speaking on Fox News Tuesday, said he was not opposed to the idea of having the former reality TV star campaign with him in the lead-up to November’s general election.

When asked by host Laura Ingraham if he would have Pratt “go around the state and campaign” for him, Hilton responded: “100%. He made such an incredible impact.”

“I’d love that,” the candidate added. “He represents the kind of energy we need.”

The California Post contacted both Pratt’s and Hilton’s campaings for comment.

Hilton now faces Democratic nominee Xavier Becerra, who emerged from the primary contest in the No. 1 spot. Becerra has since claimed endorsements from heavy-hitters in state politics, including Gov. Gavin Newsom and former Vice President Kamala Harris. Hilton has the endorsement of President Trump.

“It’s an absolute travesty that Los Angeles, as a city, won’t have the same choice that the whole state will have,” Hilton said, referring to the Republican-versus-Democrat matchup for governor, as opposed to the dual-Democrat matchup in the LA mayoral race.

“[Pratt] laid out incredible plans. Of course, everyone talks about his amazing campaign ads, and that’s true, but they forget that he had incredibly strong substantive policies, especially on homelessness, which I said at the time, that’s exactly what we need, not just in LA, but statewide,” he continued.

Pratt’s campaign generated national buzz after he announced his run for office after losing his home in the devastating Palisades Fire. Many, including Trump, offered words of support for Pratt.

There was outrage among some on the political right over his loss, fueling accusations of voter fraud and election rigging. There has been no evidence to support such claims.

Pratt has not directly addressed his loss or made any statements since the race was called. The November runoff will now pit incumbent Mayor Karen Bass against Democratic Socialists of America-lined Councilwoman Nithya Raman.

Pratt has largely remained silent after his loss, except for two posts on X.

In one, he clapped back at Jimmy Kimmel after the late-night host shared a video of Pratt’s burned-down home while joking that he should rent a U-Haul to move out of the city. Kimmel was referencing Pratt’s earlier campaign comments in which he said he would leave Los Angeles if he lost the election.

The other was a cryptic message: an image of a lone duck floating on calm water at sunset as outrage over the election result erupted around him. No words accompanied the post.
