A significant other’s ex is the last thing someone wants to think about on their wedding day. Sadly for one bride, her sister-in-law sneakily involved the groom’s ex — without her knowing — by livestreaming her brother’s entire wedding to later show her.
The devastated bride took to the r/weddingdrama forum on Reddit to vent about how her husband’s sister betrayed her — and sheesh, this one is a doozy.
The original poster shared that her now-husband — with whom she has been together for eight years, married for two — has a daughter from a previous marriage. The ex-wife has been in and out of the picture due to her addiction issues for the past several years.
“So here’s the problem — my sister-in-law, we’ll call her Amy, who has been best friends with the ex since childhood, secretly livestreamed our wedding ceremony and sent it to the ex, including private moments with my stepdaughter, who was our flower girl,” the OP wrote.
“We didn’t even know this happened until September, a year later, when another family member told us.”
That wasn’t even the worst of it.
“The day after our wedding, Amy went to visit her best friend, the ex, and that’s when she gave her the rundown of our wedding. Later that evening, she called her husband, my brother-in-law, to tell him that she was going to spend the night with the ex and my stepdaughter because they were both having a hard time with the wedding and she was going to stay for moral support for both of them.”
The OP shared that she and her sister-in-law aren’t super close but when they are together, “she acts like a ‘bestie.’”
Talk about a two-faced in-law.
Well, the thread’s comment section was just as flabbergasted over this situation as anyone reading it would be.
“This is so tough but I think going very low or no contact is your only option. She has proven she doesn’t have your or your daughter’s best interest at heart. You need to protect your family.”
“I would not spend any time with Amy, but look at it this way, the ex got to see you and your husband having what I am sure was a beautiful, happy wedding, and I am sure she was eaten up with rage. It actually sounds like Amy unwittingly enabled the best revenge.”
“Cut them off. Completely. No more contact. There are times when no contact makes sense. This is one of them. Tell your husband’s mother to stay out of it or she joins the NC list.”
