Denise Richards’ daughter, Sami Sheen, is sharing an emotional tribute to her mom’s late friend and ex-boyfriend, Patrick Muldoon.
“Patrick was someone that everyone loved. He was so quick-witted and humble but still made sure everyone knew he was a rock star and never cared what people thought about him,” Sami, 22, wrote in an Instagram Story post on Tuesday, April 21.
Sami continued, “From day 1 till the last day I saw him, he’s never changed. I’ve been lucky enough to grow up with him and I have yet to live my life without him. The friendship him and my mom had was so beautiful & something not many people get to experience. He will be missed every single day.”
“I hope I wake up from this nightmare soon,” she added, reposting her mom’s tribute to Muldoon.
Sami shared another post via her Instagram Stories of a cloud shaped like a heart. She wrote alongside it, “Right after he passed, I was sitting outside begging for a sign from him to let us know that he’s okay and made it to the other side, and then a couple minutes later I looked up and saw this in the sky. Can’t be a coincidence.”
Muldoon died at age 57 on Sunday, April 19, after suffering a heart attack. The actor appeared in several movies alongside Richards, 55, including 1997’s Starship Troopers, and the pair remained close friends up until his death.
In her own tribute to Muldoon on Tuesday, Richards wrote via Instagram, “This is so hard for me to put into words. I am deeply heartbroken & devastated losing you. You were my best friend & my family. We met in our first acting class, I was 19 never had an acting job and you were 21 a student at USC doing a recurring role on Who’s the Boss.”
“The friendship, love, support, respect & loyalty we had was unconditional and rare,” Richards wrote. “You lit up every room you walked into. You are larger than life & everyone was drawn to you. So talented & most underrated actor. And most humble. Everything you did was infectious. Your laugh, your kindness, your wit, your strength, your loyalty, your passion and your zest for life. We’ve been each other’s rock.”
Richards and Muldoon briefly dated in the late 1990s, before she wed actor Charlie Sheen, with whom the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum shares daughters Sami and Lola, 20.
During a 2025 episode of her Bravo reality show, Denise Richards & Her Wild Things, Richards reflected on how her friendship with Muldoon took a pause during her marriage to Sheen, 60. (Richards and Sheen were married from 2002 to 2006.)
“I did not speak to Pat when I was married to Charlie,” Richards said on the episode. “And it was hard, because I didn’t want to lose him as a friend. But toward the end of the marriage, I talked to him all the time about him.”
Richards said, “Charlie, he had a hard time with my relationship with Pat.”
