Cardi B is opening up about her previous childbirth experiences as she prepares to welcome baby No. 4.
“My second baby, he too big — he broke me,” Cardi, real name Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar), said during her appearance on the Friday, September 19, episode of “The Breakfast Club” podcast.
“The first one, I had to stitch,” she continued.
“Down there?” host Jess Hilarious asked the singer.
“The cat?” Cardi responded, referring to her vagina. “Oh yeah, I ripped.”
According to the Mayo Clinic, vaginal tears are common during childbirth and vary in severity, ranging from 1st to 4th degree tears. They often occur when an infant’s head is too large for the vagina to stretch around as it comes through the vaginal opening. They are often referred to as perineal tears or lacerations.
“How did you pee?” Jess asked the rapper, aghast at what can occur during labor and delivery. “Oh my god Cardi, hold my hand. I’m so sorry.”
“It was hard,” Cardi admitted. “But that’s what I’m saying — now things are just a little different and I’m more experienced. Like, the third one was so easy, so I’m expecting this one to be as easy as well, in the name of the Lord. That’s why I’m like, ‘I just did it last year. I can do it [again].’”
On Wednesday, September 17, Cardi B confirmed she is expecting her fourth baby — her first with boyfriend Stefon Diggs. (The rapper shares Kulture, 7, Wave, 3, and Blossom, 11 months, with her estranged husband, Offset.)
“I am having a baby with my boyfriend,” the rapper said during her interview with Gayle King for CBS Mornings. “I’m actually very — I’m excited. I’m happy,” she continued. “I feel like I’m in a good space. I feel very strong, I feel very powerful that I’m doing all this work but I’m doing all this work while I’m creating a baby.”
She continued, “Me and my man are very supportive of each other.”
On Friday, Cardi opened up about how she is preparing — both mentally and physically — to go on tour shortly after she is due to give birth.
“This is my fourth rodeo — this isn’t my first or second baby, this is my fourth baby,” she said, downplaying any concern that she won’t be able to perform postpartum.
“I just had a baby last year, and I do have a lot of videos — I was working out while I was pregnant, on my last weeks, and when I gave birth, like in four days, I felt like so, like, like nothing,” she continued. “So, it’s like not only am I going to prepare myself for the tour, but I just have to prepare myself physically so I could just feel good.”
