One of the world’s most beloved Asian restaurant chains is expanding in Southern California, with a massive new Orange County location set to open next month — bringing hundreds of jobs with it.

Din Tai Fung announced Friday that its newest restaurant will debut at 1401 Brea Mall Lane in Brea on Aug. 31, following a soft opening on Aug. 7.

The sprawling 14,000-square-foot eatery will serve the chain’s famous handcrafted Taiwanese soup dumplings and other fan-favorite dishes in an upscale setting designed to reflect the brand’s signature blend of modern architecture and cultural elegance.

The highly anticipated opening is expected to create hundreds of jobs and give Orange County diners another destination for the internationally acclaimed restaurant’s sought-after menu.

In a post on social media, the brand included beautiful pictures of what it called “textures” that guests will soon see inside its new location.

“Din Tai Fung Brea will be steaming soon…” the post on Instagram read.

The restaurant is known for its specially crafted soup dumplings, buns, bao, cucumber salad, noodles, spicy wontons, noodle soups, along with uniquely crafted hand-shaken cocktails.

“Each dumpling features a delicate wrapper and perfectly balanced fillings, known as the restaurant brand’s “Golden Ratio,” the direct result of decades of culinary mastery and intensive training,” per a press release.

Albert Yang, CEO of Din Tai Fung North America said that Brea’s “strong sense of community and reputation as a leading retail and dining hub made it an ideal home for our next location.”

“We are excited to welcome guests and create meaningful dining moments for the Brea community and visitors alike.”

The Brea Mall location will be the fourth one for the popular brand in the OC with what will soon be a dozen restaurants throughout the state, including in the Central Valley and Northern California.

The chain — which began in Taiwan in 1958 by Bing-Yi Yang and his wife, Pen-Mei Lai, as a cooking oil retail business — is now run by his grandsons, Albert and Aaron Yang.

“Din Tai Fung was reborn into a humble dumpling and noodle shop in 1972,” per the release.

“Today, the Michelin-recognized restaurant brand continues to be family-owned and passed down through generations, with more than 165 locations in 13 countries worldwide.”

The first US location was in Los Angeles in Arcadia, which was followed by nearly two dozen locations across the country, in six states, most being on the West Coast.
