Ree Drummond’s son Jamar Goff has been arrested after allegedly assaulting a police officer.
According to online court records viewed by Us, Goff, 23, was booked into Jefferson County Jail in Birmingham, Alabama, on September 15 around 2:30 a.m. local time.
Goff was booked on four charges, including unlawful possession of a controlled substance, aggravated assault on a police officer, drug paraphernalia for use or possession and attempting to elude an officer.
His bond was set at $37,000, and he remains in custody as of publication. It’s unclear if he has obtained legal counsel. Us has reached out to Ree’s team for comment.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, an officer received a call about a suspicious person on the University of Alabama at Birmingham campus. The cop claimed to have found Goff sleeping near a fountain without a shirt.
When the officers woke up Goff to ask him what he was doing on campus, he allegedly claimed he was waiting for someone to come and sell him “ice,” which court documents allege is another name for methamphetamine.
Once the officer learned Goff had a warrant out for his arrest, the 23-year-old allegedly took off running and ended up at a local hospital where he “used an open-handed palm strike” on an officer, court documents allege.
Ree, 57, and her husband, Ladd Drummond, became foster parents to Goff in 2018 when he was a teenager.
While it’s unclear where the Food Network star stands with Goff today, she previously celebrated her son’s birthday with a heartfelt social media post.
“Today is October 7, otherwise known as Jamar’s birthday, and I hope these photos give you a little glimpse into his personality and his presence,” Ree wrote via Instagram in October 2023. “With Jamar, there’s a whole universe going on in that mind and heart and soul of his. It’s a beautiful thing to behold. What will Jamar be doing in five years, I often imagine, as I do with all my kids. Where will he be in ten years, in twenty? I can’t wait to watch his future unfold. I know it will be filled with good things. I love you, Jamar!! ❤️🥳”
In November 2020, Ree also shared a glimpse into how Goff became a part of her family. (The best-selling author and her husband share four additional children.)
“I’ve never wanted to subject Jamar to more attention than he wanted or needed before he had a chance to settle in and get his bearings in our home. We needed to let things breathe,” Ree wrote in a blog post. “I’m now writing about Jamar because after a year-and-a-half of living in our house, he is an inextricable part of our wacky family, and it’s become increasingly strange for me not to talk about him. He’s 18 now, which means the state agency restrictions no longer apply—and most notably, he told me he’s tired of feeling like we’re trying to hide him from the world. He’s ready to sing, to dance, to make his debut! Jazz hands, Jamar!”
