Buckle up…if you can.

Over one million Chrysler vehicles have been recalled after a report found that the American brand failed to assemble the seat buckle anchors properly. The recall was issued by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), and impacts Ram 1500 vehicles between 2019 and 2026.

The recall states that the second-row seat belt buckle anchors may have been improperly installed and do not pass the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard, as it could result in injury if an accident occurred. The automaker said the front seat belt anchors are not affected.

Additionally, the report said that it could impact occupants “in certain types of driving conditions.” Over 1.2 million of the trucks were in the US, with the rest found in Canada, Mexico and countries outside of North America.

The US had the largest number, as Stellantis said 1.27 million trucks recalled; approximately 156,138 cars in Canada were impacted, 15,088 in Mexico, and another 74,084 trucks in places outside North America are affected.

The Post put together a list of vehicles impacted and what owners should do next.

According to the NHTSA, a whopping 1,271,294 vehicles are included in this particular recall, and the following model is affected: 2019-2026 Ram 1500.

According to the recall, drivers should take their cars to the nearest dealer, where they will inspect and attach the seat belt buckle anchor to the body structure as necessary and free of charge.

Car owners will be notified via a letter that is expected to be mailed on August 18, 2026. Folks may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Customers will be asked for a recall number, which is 67D.

Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in the recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov starting on August 6, 2026. Your 17-digit VIN number can be found on your insurance card, registration or driver’s side dashboard.

Ram’s parent company, Stellantis, said it is only aware of one injury that may be related to the faulty seatbelt anchors, but no fatalities have been reported. The Post reached out to Stellantis directly but has not heard back.

Earlier this year, Chrysler recalled over 450,000 vehicles and more than 2,000 tow-trailer modules over a brake light failure that could raise the risk of a crash. The recall affected 456,287 vehicles and an additional 2,871 tow-trailer modules, the NHTSA said in a pair of notices.

The vehicles impacted had faulty modules and were improperly designed. The modules affected by the recall may have resulted in the brake lights on attached trailers failing to illuminate, or they may cause trailer brakes to fail altogether, cutting visibility and increasing crash risk.

Any owner with the recalled tow-trailer modules installed can take them to a Fiat Chrysler dealer and secure a free replacement. The company said that all owner notification letters were sent out on March 24, 2026.
