An upstate New York man was shot seven times yet somehow managed to drive himself to the hospital — allowing cops to track down the two accused gunmen, police said.
The shocking scene unfolded shortly before 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, when police in Port Jervis said that two assailants opened fire on the victim, striking him seven times before taking off, cops said this week.
Video footage of the attack obtained by News12 shows repeated muzzle flashes in the dark as the man was shot, seemingly while still sitting in his car on a normally quiet residential street.
The seriously wounded victim managed to drive himself to Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis, and was later transferred to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, police said.
Cops then tracked down the two suspects — John Selja, 22, and Andrew Delrio, 26 — and charged both men with robbery and attempted murder.
“It’s really crazy,” neighbor Brenda Wildrick told News12. “I just don’t understand what’s going on with the drugs around here. It’s horrible.”
The three men allegedly knew each other and were parked outside Wildrick’s home for nearly an hour before the shots rang out, according to police.
It is unclear why the two allegedly turned on the victim, whose condition was not immediately known.
Delrio and Selja are being held at the Orange County Jail on $500,000 cash bail or a $1.5 million bond.
