New NYC dating demand has men and women at war: ‘No ride, no date’

Singletons of New York City are screaming, “Send help!”

The guys and gals of Gotham are going at each other’s throats in a vicious debate over a newly viral dating prerequisite: Men must send a car.

Despite the city’s various public transportation offerings, such as subways and buses, women on the scene prefer not to be seen hanging onto a strap in their glad rags en route to a romantic rendezvous. Instead, diva daters are demanding that their would-be Romeos treat them to a car service — if not, consider the outing cancelled.

And the seemingly uppity ultimatum is causing an all-out virtual uproar.

“One of my rules is, if a man doesn’t at least offer to send you a car for the date, whether you take it or not, no date!” said Savannah Pagnozzi, a Big Apple lifestyle influencer, in a viral vid. “No. Absolutely not. We don’t do that.”

The brunette explained to her over 471,000 viewers that she had agreed to go out with a potential Prince Charming she’d randomly met during an enchanted night on the town, complete with drinks and dancing. But when her dreamboat refused to call her a chariot ahead of their sweet appointment, scheduled on a rainy evening last week, things hit a sour note and Pagnozzi ultimately declined the date.

Unsurprisingly, her sky-high standards triggered an avalanche of hate.

“Please stop normalizing this behavior. He’s paying for dinner. A good man will not put up with this,” spat a male commenter, bashing the singleton for her pick-me-up policy.

“Smart man. He just saved himself money for dinner and a car service,” another critic quipped before wondering aloud, “Why does any man owe you a car service? Why do you women think men are ATMs and should pay for everything all the time?”

“Send you a car? What are you, Princess Diana?” ranted an equally flummoxed fella.

“I foresee many cats in your future,” a jokester teased, prophesying spinsterhood over Pagnozzi.

“Seek God and therapy,” a lady-faultfinder urged. “What’s not okay is ASSUMING that a man is automatically supposed to do it. What is he, your chauffeur or your butler? Please, ladies, run from this type of content.”

“Entitlement is dangerous,” another added. He dodged a bullet. Sounds like you’re one of those women that just wanted a free dinner.”

The contentious “send a car” discourse now joins the growing list of dating woes that have sorely divided men and women in recent years. From warfare spurred over splitting restaurant checks 50/50 to cyber skirmishes about guys sending midday confirmation texts hours before a hot date, gendered discord is constantly ablaze.

It’s an unfortunate state of affairs for singles worldwide, especially those in NYC, which was just named the No. 1 place where the unattached are most likely to die alone.

Still, sirens who insist that their suitors send a private vehicle are not backing down.

“This was my #1 rule when I lived in NYC. No ride, no date,” a supporter cheered beneath Pagnozzi’s post.

Women across the internet have echoed similar sentiments.

“Some men won’t even offer to get you a car home after a date,” Katarina, a city content creator, wrote in the caption of a saucy clip. “Others will add you to their Uber account.”

“Choose wisely ladies.”
