Barb Putman praised her husband Bill Putman as a “blessing” only days before several members of the family were involved in a fatal car accident.
“I come to you with a heavy heart, asking for your prayers. Our family was in a tragic car accident and we lost Papa, Neenee and Aunt Megan,” a Saturday, September 27, statement shared via the family’s @GrowingUpPutmans Instagram account read, referring to grandparents Bill and Barb and their daughter-in-law. “They have gone home to be with the Lord.”
Family members Blake, Lulu, Alena, Noah and Gia remained hospitalized at the time of publication, per the same statement.
“My entire family … all proclaimed that Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior,” the Saturday statement continued. “He is our hope, our peace and our salvation. Even in this time of heartbreak, we rest in knowing that God is in control.”
On Tuesday, September 23 — just days before the car accident —Barb wished her husband a beloved happy birthday via the family’s official Growing Up Putman Instagram account.
“Happy birthday to my incredible husband! Bill, welcome to our Medicare years! You are truly a blessing to me and our family. You inspire us each day through your strengths, wisdom and determination,” the sweet birthday message began. “You love us unconditionally and have always been consistent with that even through our faults.”
Barb continued to heap praise on her husband: “You never waiver from your love for Christ and you point us to Him each and every day. As a husband, you love me like Christ loves the church and I never take that for granted. As a dad and papa you are such a gift to our family. You are our safe place, our inspiration and our encourager. You guide with patience, protect with strength and nurture from the heart always pointing us to Christ and wanting the best for each one of us. You are leaving a legacy for our children and our grandchildren they will carry with them forever. “
Barb also described Bill as her “best friend” before adding, “You bring joy and laughter into my life. I am who I am because of you.
“You show up for people with loyalty, humility and compassion. You lift others up and point them to Christ,” she continued at the post’s end. “You are a soldier for Christ and you leave no stone unturned. I pray God blesses you with health, happiness and continued purpose. May He guild your steps, open doors to new opportunities and pour out blessings over your life. You are an amazing husband, an awesome dad, an inspirational papa and a faithful friend.”
She added, “Happy birthday Babe. You are my perfect fit for every day of life. God’s blessings to you today and always. May your day be filled with joy and happiness.”
The family’s original TLC series Meet the Putmans followed the lives of Bill and Barb’s family, which is made up for 25 members who all share the same home. Their Growing Up Putman revival series aired via YouTube in 2021.
