This hotel guest left his room — and made it snappy.

Staff at a Michigan motel were shocked to find a live alligator left behind by a recent guest.

The scaly three-foot-long reptile, Wally, was found in the Pine River Motel in Cheboygan on Friday, soon after a collector of exotic animals had checked out.

“We just went in to clean the room and, when my nephew looked under the bed, Wally was there,” motel manager Gary told the Detroit Free Press.

“He was a real friendly gator, so I didn’t feel real scared. He let the police officers hold him and all that, I mean, it was a real friendly alligator.”

The owner — who takes exotic animals around the schools — assumed Wally had escaped into the wild, the motel manager said.

“He thought it got out. He looked for him, couldn’t find it,” he said — marveling at how you could think you’d misplaced an alligator.

“You couldn’t really miss it. It’s about three feet long. But it was a dwarf gator. It won’t get no bigger than that,” he said.

Wally was reunited with his owner on Friday night. It isn’t known if any charges have been filed.

Hotel staff often find bizarre objects left behind by guests. A pet lizard, a car tire, and full leg casts were among the oddest items left in hotels according to a report from Hotels.com published last September.
