Michael P. Desronvil, the holdout juror in Lindsay Clancy’s triple murder trial, has spoken out about the highly publicized case being declared a mistrial earlier this month.
“I know the whole focus has been on me but we want to reel the whole thing back and put the focus on the three angels [Clancy’s three children],” Desronvil, 48, told Fox News in his first video statement on Monday, September 28. “[They] are the ones who can’t speak for themselves. The ones that can’t defend themselves. The ones that can’t fight their own battles.”
He continued, “I want to thank God for my Catholic faith. I want to thank God for giving me the ability to love my daughter. Foremost, I would like to thank everyone — every individual — that has supported me throughout this difficult situation. Your prayers, your emotional support, your psychological support is tremendous [for] my heart.”
“I do want to thank you from the bottom of my heart,” he concluded.
Massachusetts Superior Court Judge William F. Sullivan formally declared a mistrial in the Clancy case on September 4 after being informed that the jury was deadlocked and unable to come to a unanimous verdict over the deaths of Lindsay, 36, and ex-husband Patrick Clancy’s three children — Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, 8 months — in January 2023.
Lindsay’s attorney Kevin Reddington did not deny that Lindsay killed her children, arguing instead that she should not be held criminally responsible due to her experience with postpartum psychosis. Prosecutors countered that Lindsay was fully aware of her actions at the time of the killings.
Once the mistrial was declared, details came to light about what allegedly happened during jury deliberations. Several jurors said that Desronvil was the sole holdout who prevented the jury from finding Lindsay not guilty by reason of insanity.
Desronvil’s attorney, Edward Paltzik, publicly defended him amid scrutiny over his conduct during the trial, calling his client an “American Hero and Champion of Justice.”
“[Michael] loves the United States of America as the greatest country in the world; cherishes our sacred Constitution as the pinnacle of human liberty; and supports our amazing leader, President Donald J. Trump, as a fellow defender of common-sense, liberty, and sanity,” Paltzik tweeted on September 17.
The lawyer alleged that Desronvil has received death threats, so he promised to go “to the maximum extent of the law and beyond” against “the evil people who have so viciously attacked” his client.
“In the meantime, though, [Desronvil] has persevered and remains utterly unbroken thanks to his devout Catholic Faith,” the statement concluded. “As a devoted father and man of God, he will not be defeated or shattered by the wicked who wish harm upon him.”
In the days since the trial concluded, it was reported that Desronvil had multiple legal issues in the past. Desronvil was charged with misdemeanor domestic violence assault in 2021 following an alleged altercation with his then-wife, though the charges were later dropped, according to court documents.
He ran into legal trouble again in 2025 when his teenage nephew obtained a restraining order against him after Desronvil allegedly attacked him. Desronvil was ordered to stay away from his nephew until August 11, in addition to surrendering any firearms he owned.
Lindsay’s defense attorney Reddington subsequently filed a motion asking Judge Sullivan to grant him access to Desronvil’s questionnaire and “Juror Doe’s record from the statewide domestic violence registry,” per TMZ. Reddington also requested access to the holdout juror’s mobile phone records — including calls, texts and data — during the period when the jury deliberated, from August 27 through September 4.
A status hearing in the case is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, September 29.
