Leonardo DiCaprio didn’t seem to get the black-tie memo while attending Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez’s wedding in Italy, opting to wear a baseball hat for the occasion.
DiCaprio, 50, was photographed on the island of San Giorgio Maggiore on Friday, June 27, wearing a black tuxedo. It was his Los Angeles Dodgers hat, comically covering his entire face, that raised eyebrows among fans.
As the Titanic actor headed to the wedding his cap appeared to get lower and lower as he tried to hide his identity. Fans, however, didn’t fall for his ruse and called him out via social media.
“Attention Leo: we know who you are 😂,” one user wrote in the comments section of Just Jared’s Instagram post of the actor in Venice.
A different user replied, “Get over yourself, Leo. We’re not in the 90’s anymore …”
A separate fan commented, “Take your hat off. They don’t sell hotdogs here,” referring to the fact that a L.A. Dodgers hat is usually worn at a baseball game.
“Does he think that disguise works?” another user quipped.
DiCaprio’s over-the-top face covering has since become a meme. “Me when I’m live commenting on Love Island posts during an episode but want to avoid spoilers,” Glorifiedgossipgirlie captioned one meme via Instagram.
“Me when I finally have the courage to look at my bank account,” the account captioned another meme of DiCaprio wearing his hat.
While the Oscar winner was the butt of a few people’s jokes on Friday, the day was mostly about Bezos, 61, and his bride, 55, who tied the knot in front of some of Hollywood’s biggest names. (The couple got engaged in May 2023.)
Sánchez wore a custom gown by Dolce & Gabbana that had a “high-necked silhouette adorned with 180 silk chiffon-covered priest buttons,” according to Vogue.
The former journalist said “I do” to the Amazon creator with just under 200 guests present. “It’s really beautiful and low-key, not over the top at all,” a source exclusively told Us Weekly of the nuptials.
DiCaprio attended the ceremony alongside girlfriend Vittoria Ceretti, who was also spotted getting in a gondola before the wedding. She, however, didn’t obstruct her face and wore a sexy black gown.
The pair were seen arriving in the city one day prior, being transported in separate water taxis through Venice.
DiCaprio, who has been dating Ceretti, 27, since summer 2023, sported the same L.A. Dodgers hat with a black suit and crème undershirt as he attended a pre-wedding function on Thursday, June 26. Ceretti, meanwhile, donned a grey gown with flowers around the halter neckline as she left the Gritti Palace Hotel.
Kim Kardashian, Oprah Winfrey, Ellie Goulding and Orlando Bloom were among the other A-listers who were in town for the wedding weekend.
