Kalshi launches map showing gamblers’ odds on Senate, House races ahead of 2026 midterms

Prediction market giant Kalshi is ramping up its push into political forecasting with a new “Midterms Hub” with a map showing how gamblers place the odds on Senate and House races in the fall elections.

Bringing a veritable Vegas thrill to a sacred rite of democracy, the hub aggregates live market odds for the contests, factoring in news, analysis and surveys and displays the latest expectations for individual contests alongside a nationwide electoral map.

In a Wednesday announcement, Kalshi described the new feature as a “one-stop-shop for state and federal election forecasting” that gives users a “real-time picture of where a race stands.”

“Odds update in real time as news breaks, debates unfold, polls drop, and results come in,” stated Kalshi, which allows people to bet on everything from the weather to geopolitical events

The hub leverages polling averages, allowing users to compare market pricing with traditional voter surveys, according to the company. It also includes the latest Federal Election Commission fundraising reports for candidates, as well as curated news coverage and analysis from multiple outlets.

While the platform is known for offering event contracts – in which users take a position on whether an outcome will occur or not – Kalshi said the new hub is geared toward people who simply want election insights without wagering. About three-quarters of visitors to Kalshi don’t place trades and use the platform to monitor current odds, according to the company.

Kalshi CEO Tarek Mansour said prediction markets provide unfiltered perspective that isn’t skewed by political bias.

“They cut through polarization and show you what the wisdom of the crowds actually believes, backed by real money, not rhetoric,” said the exec, an MIT graduate and former Citadel trader and Goldman Sachs analyst. “That kind of clarity is rare right now, and that’s what people are getting with the Midterms Hub.”

The launch is part of Kalshi’s broader effort to grow its political offerings before the November midterms. In May, the company debuted the “American Power Index,” which it described as an “S&P 500” for politics that could gauge which political party is gaining or losing momentum.

The expansion comes as traders are expected to pour more money into election-related prediction markets during the midterms, following a similar jump in activity during the 2024 presidential election.

Election betting hasn’t come without controversy. In April, Kalshi suspended and fined three candidates for the US House and Senate for betting on their own races.

In June, the company requested the removal of posts from some affiliated influencers after they shared content suggesting the Los Angeles mayoral race was being manipulated while simultaneously promoting betting odds on the election through paid partnerships.
