Orlando Bloom will not have to testify as part of his ex Katy Perry’s legal battle over a $15 million home, Us Weekly has confirmed.

According to court documents obtained by Us, a Los Angeles Superior Court judge ruled on Friday, August 1, that Bloom will not have to be deposed or take the stand in the upcoming trial.

The legal drama started after businessman Carl Westcott sold his house to Katy, via her business manager Bernie Gudvi, in 2020. A couple of days later, Westcott tried to back out of the deal, claiming he was under the influence of painkillers from a previous surgery when he executed the paperwork.

Westcott sued Gudvi, pleading with the court to rule the deal was not enforceable. Gudvi asked the court to dismiss the case. The pop star’s team believed the deal was valid.

At the end of phase one of the trial, Perry’s team was awarded the home. The singer took ownership of the property last year.

Phase two of the trial is scheduled to start later this month. Westcott’s team asked for permission to depose Bloom ahead of the trial, arguing he had information relevant to the case.

Perry’s team claimed the request was untimely. At a hearing on August 1, the judge determined Bloom’s testimony was not necessary and the information sought from him could be obtained through other third parties, according to Rolling Stone, which broke the story.

Sources tell Us the Westcott team is not done in their fight to depose Bloom.

Perry is set to testify at the upcoming trial regarding the $6 million in damages her business manager is alleging he is owed from Westcott. Part of the amount requested includes alleged repairs done to the home for damages that happened from the date Perry purchased the home to the date she received the keys. The Westcott team disputes the alleged repairs.

As Us previously reported, last month Perry and Bloom announced they were ending their engagement after months of breakup rumors.

“Orlando and Katy have been shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on coparenting,” reps for the pair said in a joint statement on Thursday, July 3. “They will continue to be seen together as a family, as their shared priority is — and always will be — raising their daughter with love, stability and mutual respect.”

Us learned the breakup happened as far back as the beginning of the year.

A couple of weeks before the official statement, an insider told Us, “Katy and Orlando have split but are amicable. It’s not contentious at the moment. Katy is of course upset but is relieved to not have to go through another divorce, as that was the worst time in her life.”

Perry and Bloom, who got engaged in 2019, share a daughter named Daisy, 4.

The source added, “They aren’t making drastic changes for Daisy’s sake.”
