The Queen is dead.

A popular West Hollywood restaurant and influencer mecca is closing its doors after five years in business.

Queen Violet, an Asian fusion restaurant, announced the closure in a sign posted to its door this week.

“To Our Queen Violet Family,” the sign reads. “Thank you for your love and support over the past 5+ years. We’re so grateful to have you with us as we begin our new journey.”

The sign shared that the restaurant’s final day of business will be August 31.

Queen Violet opened at 8543 Santa Monica Blvd in the fall of 2021 and quickly built its following among influencers both actual and aspirational who flocked to have their picture taken in the bloom-dense environs.

OV’s floral-heavy entrance and patio are perennially popular spots for posing and posting.

“So sad. Such a gorgeous venue. Always lovely presentation. Very kind staff. My fav drunken noodles. But def excited to try their new spot,” posted Kayla Becker, a TV host with over 600,000 Instagram followers.

The reason for Queen V’s closure is unclear, though the 2,600-square-foot restaurant was listed for sale in January of 2025.

The listing advertised an asking price of $255,000, with a Type 41 beer-and-wine license and a monthly rent of $13,000.

The listing highlighted the restaurant’s “beautiful French colonial style indoor/outdoor experience,” noting the “defining entrance” and wrought iron work created an “alluring restaurant and wine bar, with direct access to locals and tourists.”

The space was described as fully built out and ready for its next restaurant or retail incarnation, with permitted hours from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily.

QV is helmed by chef/owner Sara Thongchoet, and the extensive menu includes Millennial bait like avocado toast, truffle fries, butterfly pea cocktails and crispy Brussels sprouts.

According to the QV website, Thongchoet began hosting dinners at her apartment in 2010, experimenting with new and traditional recipes and building her culinary community. As the dinners surged in popularity, Thongchoet outgrew her home kitchen and transferred her enthusiasm for food and hospitality to her WeHo restaurant.

Located in WeHo’s Rainbow District, QV has been an outspoken supporter of the LGBTQ+ community. The restaurant’s allyship is built into the name itself, as violet, rather than the rainbow, is the color for the community in Thailand.

QV’s closing sign directed fans to the team’s new restaurant BKK TABLE at 8101 1/2 Beverly Blvd.

In an Instagram post, BKK TABLE is described as “Authentic street-style dishes packed with bold flavors and crafted to let you eat like a true local in Los Angeles.”

BKK TABLE is also available for delivery DoorDash.
