The Washington Nationals visit the New York Mets on Saturday, August 15, 2026 at 4:10 p.m. ET from Citi Field, Flushing, Queens.

The Mets enter at 54-69 (.439), while the Nationals sit at 60-64 (.484). Brad Lord (5-2, 3.80 ERA) takes the mound for the Nationals, opposed by Sean Manaea (4-5, 4.13 ERA) for the Mets. The Nationals’ 129 stolen bases are the most in MLB in the 2026 regular season, and Bo Bichette is three runs batted in away from reaching 500 in his career.

Below, we’ll give you all the details you need to know about how to watch this game.

How to Watch Washington Nationals vs. New York Mets

  • Where: Citi Field, Flushing, Queens
  • TV: FS1, SportsNet New York, Washington Nationals TV Network

Players to Watch

Sean Manaea

Pitcher · New York Mets

Manaea is the clearest Mets player to watch because his start sets the tone against one of the most dangerous offenses in the league. Washington enters this matchup ranked first in MLB in home runs, runs batted in, stolen bases, slugging percentage, and OPS, so every inning he can control traffic matters. For the season, Manaea is 4-5 with a 4.13 ERA, 106 strikeouts in 104.2 innings, a 1.32 WHIP, and a .257 opponent batting average.

This is a tough assignment because the Nationals can pressure a pitcher in multiple ways. They have 177 home runs, 134 steals, and 662 runs scored through 123 games. If Manaea can miss bats early and keep Washington from turning singles into extra bases with its speed game, the Mets have a much better chance to keep this one from turning into a track meet.

Carson Benge

Right Fielder · New York Mets

Benge stands out because the Mets need a steady bat in a lineup that has struggled to create offense over the full season. New York ranks 25th in batting average, 28th in on-base percentage, 24th in slugging, and 26th in OPS, so a hitter who can reach base and add some speed becomes especially important. Benge has been one of their better projected starters, batting .274 with a .335 OBP, a .413 slugging percentage, 13 home runs, 47 RBI, and 18 stolen bases.

He is worth watching in this matchup because Washington’s pitching staff has been vulnerable over the season. The Nationals rank 27th in ERA and 26th in WHIP, while allowing opponents a .258 average and .764 OPS. Benge gives the Mets a chance to attack that weakness with line drives, gap power, and baserunning pressure. If he gets on base a couple of times, he can help New York manufacture offense that does not come easily for this club.

CJ Abrams

Shortstop · Washington Nationals

Abrams is the headliner on the Washington side because he brings impact in every phase of the offense. He is projected to start at shortstop and enters this game with a .284 average, a .357 OBP, a .541 slugging percentage, 29 home runs, 91 RBI, and 23 stolen bases. On a Nationals team that leads MLB in home runs, RBI, stolen bases, slugging, and OPS, he is right in the middle of the action.

This matchup also lines up well for him because the Mets’ pitching staff has solid strikeout numbers but still allows 557 runs and a .318 opponent OBP over 122 games. Abrams can change the game with one swing or by getting on and forcing the defense to rush. If he reaches base early, he can put immediate pressure on Manaea and the Mets in a game that could hinge on controlling Washington’s speed and power.

Dylan Crews

Right Fielder · Washington Nationals

Crews is a strong watch here because he comes in with a fresh sign of life at the plate and adds another speed element to a lineup that already stresses defenses. In Thursday’s win over the Cubs, he went 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI, a run scored, and a stolen base. That mattered because he had entered August batting .140 over 11 games, so the latest performance could be a useful reset.

For the season, Crews has a .218 average, a .290 OBP, a .372 slugging
