Saturday Night Live made sure to pay homage to Diane Keaton after her death at age 79.

Hours after news broke that Keaton died, the show shared a tribute card at the end of the Saturday, October 12, episode. In the black-and-white image, Keaton had a big smile and was wearing a collared shirt and tie. Her name was displayed alongside the photograph.

The NBC variety show’s official account uploaded a picture via X, writing, “Diane Keaton,” alongside a red heart emoji.

Host and SNL alum Amy Poehler also gave a subtle nod to the late actress by wearing a collared shirt and tie during farewells, before the episode came to an end. (Role Model performed as the musical guest during the Saturday episode.)

A spokesperson for Keaton’s family told People on Saturday that she died in California and noted that they would not be sharing further details while asking “for privacy.” Keaton is survived by her two children: daughter Dexter and son Duke, whom she adopted in 1996 and 2001, respectively.

Us Weekly reached out for comment.

One day later, Keaton’s close friend, Carole Bayer Sager, opened up about the late actress’ health prior to her death.

“I saw her two or three weeks ago, and she was very thin,” Sager told People in an interview published on Sunday, October 12. “She had lost so much weight.”

Sager explained that she and Keaton interacted less this year, noting that the January wildfires in California led the actress to spend time in Palm Springs.

“She had to go to Palm Springs because her house had been damaged inside, and they had to clean everything,” Sager recalled on Sunday. “She was down there for a while, and when she came back, I was kind of stunned by how much weight she’d lost.”

In the wake of her death, several celebrities have mourned Keaton’s loss. SNL cast member Ashley Padilla, who worked as Keaton’s assistant, paid tribute to the Father of the Bride actress via social media.

“I will never forget you. I will always love you. And I will miss you all of the time,” she wrote on her Instagram Story, while sharing several photos of the actress. “Thank you for everything, Diane. You changed my life.”

While Keaton never collaborated with Poehler — Keaton never appeared on SNL — the Annie Hall star had been open about her love for the SNL alum.

“So I have something to say about a new discovery,” Keaton wrote via X in 2014. “I’ve fallen in love with Amy Poehler. … My 13 year old son Duke and I have now seen three years of Parks and Rec episodes in four months. Last night we saw Amy get married. That sealed the deal for me. My love for her is now eternal.”

She continued, “Amy Poehler can do anything. Not only is she drop dead funny, she’s charming, sweet, warm and beautiful. Especially as a bride.”

Saturday Night Live airs on NBC Saturdays at 11:30 p.m. ET.
