A Texas cop was removed from her position over her offensive and racial remarks in a now viral social media video.

The Houston Police Department relieved Officer Ashley Gonzalez of duty pending an internal investigation into the alleged racist rant targeting “black people” posted on social media, Click2Houston reported on Tuesday.

Gonzalez is accused of making multiple racial remarks in the social media post, proclaiming she “hates black people” and threatened to arrest any “black person” if they were at a call she was dispatched to, according to the clip shared by Grizzy’s Hood News.

The under-fire officer, who was sworn into the department in January 2024, appeared in the video sitting in the front seat of a car, wearing a black spaghetti top as she rambled to the camera.

“The amount of times I will always and forever say that I f–king hate (censored). I f–king hate you all,” Gonzalez allegedly says in the clip.

Gonzalez shared a story of an off-duty encounter she had with someone she accused of trying to steal her wallet from her purse, claiming she grabbed the person before calling them a racial slur.

“Y’all don’t know how good it felt to say [racial slur] out loud. Oh my God, I felt like I was back in the Marine Corps,” the woman said. “I felt like the world just stopped. It felt like peace.”

Gonzalez was confirmed to have served in the US Marine Corps between 2019 and 2023 where she attained the rank of Corporal, E3, Click2Houston reported.

She also mocked slavery, racial discrimination and stereotypes during her tirade.

Gonzalez mentioned she was glad part of the video wasn’t recorded because of the language she had been using.

The Houston Police Officers’ Union condemned Gonzalez’s video.

“The Houston Police Officers Union is extremely disturbed by a video circulating on social media regarding an officer making offensive, racist comments. In no way does the HPOU or its leadership condone or tolerate racist behavior from any of our officers,” the union said in a statement.

Gonzalez, who remains an employee of the Houston Police Department until a final ruling is made, was ordered to hand in her badge and gun and will be checked on at her home until the investigation is complete, according to KHOU.

She can be either reinstated or indefinitely suspended, meaning she will be fired without the possibility of being rehired, the outlet reported.
