A Southern California sheepdog is being hailed as an honorary first responder after police drone video captured the hardworking pup helping clear the way for an emergency helicopter.
The Laguna Beach Police Department shared drone video Friday showing officers and firefighters responding to an emergency in the city’s foothills as crews prepared a landing zone for a helicopter.
As crews worked on the ground, a hardworking white sheepdog sprang into action, herding a nearby group of goats away from the landing area and helping keep the helicopter’s path clear.
Drone video released by the department shows the dog weaving behind the herd as dozens of goats move up the hillside and away from the helicopter’s approach.

At one point, the camera zooms in on the pup happily trotting across the hillside with its tail wagging after completing its impromptu mission.
“The sheepdog stepped up and helped guide a group of goats out of the way so the units could work,” the Laguna Beach Police Department wrote in a social media post. “That’s a good boy.”
Officials have not publicly released details about the emergency response or what prompted the helicopter deployment.
