Happy National Orgasm Day: Shocking study finds 47% of workers are having sex on the job — and other sexy stats

Working stiffs are coming in hot this summer.

If you see a senior executive with an extra slip in his step, or an underling under the influence of lust, it’s likely because they’re having sex and reaching climax while on the clock, per pulsating new data released in celebration of National Orgasm Day, July 31.

Achieving the “Big O” on the job, in the car, in the park or, really, anywhere besides the boring old boudoir is hotly en vogue, according to researchers for Bloom Stories, an erotica audio hub, who discovered that 47% of 9-to-5ers across the US are doing the no pants dance on company time, with 28% enjoying a happy ending each time.

“Good sex doesn’t always happen between the sheets,” said Lemon Meyer, a sex expert for Bloom, in a statement. “The novelty of a new location, whether it’s moving from the bedroom to the kitchen counter, or venturing further afield, can add to the excitement.”

“Different locations present different sights, sounds and sensations, which can all add to arousal,” added the pro. “The tickle of grass or water lapping against your skin can heighten the physical experience of intimacy.”

“You might also find yourself turned on by the thrill of doing it somewhere semi-public or taking five to get frisky between Zoom calls.”

It’s the legal way to have sex while pocketing a check.

But getting busy during business hours is more than just a cheap thrill.

In fact, a midday roll in the hay — or on the desk — has been found to “boost productivity,” as well as improve the mental and physical health of employees in need of relief, a recent report revealed.

And the young guns of Gen Z are going nuts over the NSFW fun.

A titillating 38% of the hot-to-trot 20-somethings are now seeking employment that offers private in-office spaces for doing the do — either with a colleague or by themselves — per a trending survey, which also found that 47% of remote workers are, too, prioritizing hanky-panky behind their bosses’ backs.

Age and work-location statuses notwithstanding, inamoratos who simply gotta have it are getting their fixes everywhere they see fit in 2026.

Investigators for Bloom determined that 49% of sexpots are getting freaky and orgasming in the car, while 43% are doing it al fresco in gardens, 40% in public venues — such as the gym or an airplane bathroom — and an impressive 34% underwater, in swimming pools or the actual sea.

No matter where folks choose to shag, Meyer emphasizes safety first.

“Wherever you do it, the most important thing is to make sure you feel safe,” the insider urged. “If you’re with a partner, check in before trying out a new location and set clear boundaries around what you are and are not comfortable doing.”

After all, communication is key for an optimal daily grind.

Here are Meyer’s top three tips for hooking up in public this hot season.

Keep off the grass

A little friction can add to the fun when you’re getting frisky, but no one wants to get grass burn, or be stung by an unsuspecting nettle. Put out a picnic blanket or keep a few items of clothing on to protect yourself from the elements.

Pick a private spot

The last thing you want while having sex in the great outdoors is to be interrupted, or fall foul of public decency laws. Picking a private spot is essential. If you’ve got a garden, make use of the seclusion (just check none of the neighbours can see in!)

Check the forecast

Getting caught in the rain might look super romantic in the movies, but the reality is more soggy than sexy. Check the weather before you rush outside. And if the forecast says sun, don’t forget the SPF. No one wants post-sex sunburn.
