The Big Bang Theory has expanded with multiple spinoffs but who from Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage should get their own show?
“I think Connor’s spinoff would be really great,” Montana Jordan teased to Us Weekly exclusively during the Warner Bros. Television Group’s Emmy Party. “His character is starting to blossom a lot and they’re having fun with it. He’s a good character.”
Jessie Prez, meanwhile, praised the fictional world created by Chuck Lorre, Steven Molaro and Steve Holland.
“Also, the family dynamics that Chuck does on all of his shows. There’s so much longevity in everything that he writes,” he noted. “If you watch any of his shows, there’s just so much truth and realism in his writing.”
Prez continued: “It’s like the real world. The family dynamics and problems with being young parents, grandparents and sibling issues. It’s relatable as hell. I don’t think that ever gets old.”
The Big Bang Theory, which aired on CBS from 2007 to 2019, starred Jim Parsons, Kaley Cuoco, Johnny Galecki, Simon Helberg, Kunal Nayyar, Mayim Bialik and Melissa Rauch as a group of scientists and their significant others.
CBS later launched the Young Sheldon prequel, which focused on Sheldon’s life (Iain Armitage) as a child prodigy growing up in Texas. Viewers met Sheldon’s brother, Georgie (Jordan), which paved the way for his love story with Mandy (Emily Osment) to inspire another spinoff, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage. Next up is Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, which is headlined by Kevin Sussman, Brian Posehn and Lauren Lapkus.
Jordan, 22, previously praised The Big Bang Theory universe for seamlessly introducing spinoffs.
“We didn’t want to take away from the ending of Young Sheldon,” Jordan told Us exclusively in October 2024 about properly ending Young Sheldon before shifting focus. “For seven years we were on Young Sheldon, and we didn’t want to just short America by just getting rid of it and going to this new show. So we took our time and finished filming that.”
Jordan was excited to have a built-in fan base while still capturing the attention of new viewers, adding, “You can watch Young Sheldon without knowing anything about The Big Bang Theory. And I believe you can watch this new show without watching Young Sheldon. It’s a new start. We’re starting a new thing and you get to follow Georgie and Mandy as they go through all these trials and errors in life. It’s a very relatable topic and everybody knows about it and it’s not a secret.”
Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage returns to CBS Thursday, October 16, at 8 p.m. ET and episodes are currently streaming on Paramount+.
