A male Virgin Atlantic flight attendant was arrested for allegedly pushing a teenage girl when she tried to jump ahead of him while in line for a Disney World ride.
Keith Newman, a 47-year-old British man, was taken into custody over the Feb. 20 shoving saga that unfolded at the Magic Kingdom theme park in Orlando, cops said.
Newman had been waiting to ride the Tiana’s Bayou Adventure attraction when the 18-year-old and her friend tried to skip ahead, according to an arrest affidavit.
The girls had told Newman they were just trying to catch up to their friends who were ahead but the flight attendant refused to let them through, the filing states.
When the teen tried to go around Newman, he allegedly “pushed her back with both hands” and caused her to fall backwards into her pal.
Newman denied shoving the girl, telling cops that she actually walked into his hand.
Still, he was arrested and hit with a battery charge.
Newman has since pleaded not guilty and returned to the UK after being released on a $1,000 bail.
The victim’s father, who didn’t want to be named, told the Daily Mail that the flight attendant’s behavior was “inexcusable.”
“I hope this sends a message that it’s never okay to put your hands on someone else except for self-defense, especially somebody a lot younger than you and from the opposite sex,” he said.
“My daughter is 18 but she looks 15. She’s 5ft 2in and 120lbs. There’s no mistaking the fact she was a child so for him to put his hands on a child, he was dead on wrong.”
“It’s inexcusable what he did,” he added.
