Fans think Dancing With the Stars pro Emma Slater is hinting at her future with the show via a recent — and somewhat cryptic — social media video.
“Thank you #DWTS for the journey of a lifetime,” Slater, 36, captioned a TikTok posted shared on Sunday, September 7. “You never know when your time is up so I’m gunna love it every single day.”
The clip was set to an instrumental song and featured Slater twirling in a DWTS rehearsal room.
“You never know when your time is up so I’m gunna love it every single day,” Slater wrote a second time in the comments section, which elicited some worried responses from fans.
“I don’t like this riddle,” one TikTok user wrote. Another added, “Why does this feel like a goodbye video? Yet the season hasn’t even started yet.”
Slater has yet to address any questions or concerns regarding her tenure with the reality competition show, while other fans interpreted the caption in a different way.

“That’s not what people are meaning of thinking she’s not gonna be on the show after this season,” another fan wrote. “She’s just saying you never know when you won’t get called back again by the show have nothing to do with her partner this year.”
Slater is partnered with comedian Andy Richter for DWTS season 34, premiering on Tuesday, September 16. After the casting news was announced last week, some fans commented on Slater consistently being partnered with celebrities over a certain age. Rumors then started swirling that Slater’s celeb partners were chosen because she choreographs the DWTS live tour, something the professional dancer has since debunked.
“Not sure how it got started!” Slater said of the rumor on TikTok. “I definitely don’t plan or choreograph the tour.”
Slater told Us Weekly during the DWTS press line on Wednesday, September 8, that she is “very happy” to be partnered with Richter.
“We have the same kind of energy,” the professional dancer said. “We love to chat, love to talk and I love to hear about, honestly, all that you’ve done.”
Richter is admittedly nervous for his first live performance.
“This is not even close to being the area code of my comfort zone. This is really different for me,” he told Us. “And [it] makes me feel insecure, because I’m used to [getting] judged on talking, not on moving. It’s new.”
Dancing With the Stars premieres on ABC and Disney+ Tuesday, September 16, at 8 p.m. ET, with new episodes streaming the next day on Hulu.
