Protect those luscious locks.

Getting regular trims and doing weekly hair masks are important to keep your hair in tip-top shape — what you do as soon as you step out of the shower is crucial for the health of your hair.

If you’re someone who uses a regular hair brush to comb through your freshly washed hair — you’re severely damaging your locks.

“Wet hair has a lot of physical differences from hair when it’s dry, and that can affect its ability to handle stress from brushing,” Dr. Roshan Vara told the Sun in an interview.

Instead, Vara recommends using a gentler wide-tooth comb. “…and start from the ends and work your way up. Never start brushing from the roots when hair is wet — you must avoid doing this to prevent damage.”

Flexible detangling brushes are another safe option.

“The flexible bristles are great for detangling without too much tension,” Brianna Delvecchio, a color specialist and hairdresser at Ashley Lauren Beauty Lounge in Westchester, New York, told Fox News digital.

“It’s a solid option for all hair types, as long as you’re still gentle and patient.”

Another seemingly innocent mistake many people make is using a blow-dryer — or other hot tool — on soaking wet hair.

“The speed at which water is removed from the hair shaft can cause a rupturing effect which pushes out the cuticle and leads to hair falling out, as it isn’t as strong as it needs to be,” Vara told the outlet.

If you can’t live without using hot tools on your hair post-shower, instead thoroughly towel-dry your hair to remove excess moisture. From there, you can let it air dry for a bit before heat styling it.

It’s also important to keep in mind that outside factors like stress, diet, hormones and overprocessing your hair by bleaching or dying it can also cause major damage.

If you’re guilty of making some of these hair mistakes and you’re looking to bring some shine back to your overworked tresses — the solution might be right in your fridge.

Supposedly, beer, yes beer, can benefit your hair.

While there isn’t any clinical evidence for this alcoholic remedy, its nutrients, including calcium, iron, protein, selenium, vitamin D, vitamin E and zinc, can benefit your hair, according to Healthline.

“There are some vitamins and minerals that are found in beer, but your normal dietary intake is going to overcome what you get from beer,” Dr. Ryan Welter, founder and CEO of Regeneris Medspa & Cosmetic Surgery and the New England Center for Hair Restoration, based in Massachusetts, told Fox News Digital.
