Even though Meghan Markle has stepped away from her monarchical duties, the former Suits actress still looks royally fabulous. The 43-year-old Duchess of Sussex’s hair and makeup is still incredibly posh, and we’re dying to know her secret. That’s why we spoke to celebrity stylists on how to recreate Meghan Markle’s hair and makeup.
They told us not just what to use, but why you should use it, whether you’re marrying a prince or simply getting ready for the day. From heat styling spray to foundation, you’ll learn how to look just like HRH herself.
Six Ways To Help You Recreate Meghan Markle’s Hair
“Meghan has that unique biracial hair texture,” William Whatley, who has styled P!nk and is the Creative Education Director for Scruples Haircare, tells Us Weekly. “This is one of my favorite textures to work with because you can style this into place, and it will last hours if approached with the right hair products that are not too heavy for the hair.” Unsurprisingly, Whatley really likes Scruples.
1. Squeaky Clean: Meghan Markle’s hair is always glistening, and he suggests starting out with Scruples Hair Clearifier Deep Cleansing Shampoo for a deep clean.
“I would first start out with cleansing her hair palette,” Whatley explains. “It removes any unwanted paraffins, waxes, other product buildup, so you have clean hair to work with.”
2. Super Sheen: Next, Whatley recommends using Scruples Total Integrity Ultra Rich Conditioner. It adds volume while making your hair look sleek and healthy.
“It has all the botanicals and amino acids that bring her texture of hair back to life and create shine in the hair,” Whatley adds.
3. Relaxation: After stepping out of the shower, smooth things out with Scruples Smooth Out Straightening Gel.
“It’s an amazing lightweight gel that helps control unruly curls and tames frizz,” Whatley says. “Apply about a quarter size amount in your hand, apply it from roots to end evenly throughout the hair.”
4. Ultra Protection: Before adding heat, Whatley reminds us protection is important. Products like HEAT UP Styling and Finishing Thermal Spray will do the trick.
“This thermal protectant is a ‘must use’ on hair types like Meghan’s,” he adds.
5. Style It: Whatley didn’t recommend one specific dryer, but he says a round brush “creates smoothness.” Find a pro quality heated round brush with fusion technology for healthier looking hair and quicker drying time.
6. Photo Finish: Finally, lock it all in with Scruples Hypershine Repair Spray.
“When all my heat tool work is completely done I would apply a small amount,” he says. “It’s a mist formulated with argon oil just to lock in her shine ready for the camera.”
Tips For Meghan’s Natural Glam Look
“Queen of Texture” and Fashion Week icon Sarai Martinez had some ideas for achieving her natural glam look. Just a few basic things will go a long way towards and effortless, natural look.
1. Glowy Complexion: First, Martinez recommends NARS Sheer Glow Foundation to even out your skin tone.
“She definitely uses a sheer foundation to complement her freckled face,” Martinez says. “I would recommend this for a dewy look.”
2. Contour Queen: Next, get Meghan’s angles with HD Skin Face Essentials Palette with Highlighter.
“Go around the perimeter of the face to contour,” Martinez explains.
