A crew of subway riders who say they’ve been overcharged and issued phantom fines on their MTA-issued OMNY cards want the state’s top prosecutor to investigate the alleged debacle, The Post has learned.

The group Passengers United told The Post they are organizing rallies outside Attorney General Letitia James’ office to push for a probe into the tap-and-go fare system they claim hit hundreds of New Yorkers with overcharges and improper fees.

“We want them to investigate [system developer] Cubic for defects with OMNY, including overcharges, [and that] it doesn’t show payments leading to erroneous fines from fare inspectors,” group president Charlton D’Souza told The Post.

The group also has fired off letters to the AG, city and state lawmakers laying out the complaints, along with a petition demanding the Metropolitan Transportation Authority fix OMNY and restore unlimited passes.

“New Yorkers are fed up. We’re at our breaking point,” D’Souza said.

MTA head honcho Janno Lieber was pressed on the allegations at the agency’s July 29 board meeting, pledging to fix the issue even while downplaying social media complaints.

“If anybody has an issue where they feel like they’ve been unfairly charged at the turnstile or, God forbid, handed a ticket unfairly, we want to know about it, and we will fix it,” Lieber said.

The MTA and the AG’s office did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

This is a developing story. Please check back for updates.
