Major crimes in New York City dropped nearly across the board, with six of seven major felony categories seeing marked declines — and the city boasting eight consecutive months of overall crime reduction, according to the annual management report, released Wednesday by Mayor Eric Adams.

The statistics paint a positive picture of Gotham crime trends thus far in 2025 — featuring a 6% drop in murders; 17% decrease in robberies; 9% drop in felonious assaults; and a 5% dip in burglaries, while grand larceny and grand larceny auto both fell 10%, according to the figures shared with The Post.

The Big Apple also reported a 14% decrease in shooting incidents, from 932 to 804, compared to the same time frame last year — and saw the fewest August shootings in the COMPStat era that began in 1993, the data showed.

“Our administration is, once again, showing how our competent management is delivering real results for all New Yorkers,” Adams told The Post.

“In the areas that New Yorkers most care about — affordability, public safety, education, and cleanliness — we are breaking records and delivering for working-class people.”

Crime is also down in public spaces, with a 12% drop in park crime, a 2% dip in transit system crime, a 5% decrease in crime at NYC Housing Authority buildings and a 9% recession in major felonies at schools, the stats revealed.

Despite the positive statistics, a troubling increase in rape cases this year is attributed in part to a change in classifying the horrific crimes, the NYPD previously stated.

The management report also showed that NYPD response times to critical crimes in progress improved by 14 seconds, while average response times to all crimes saw a 30-second gain.

“This is what it looks like to have a real public-safety strategy and drive down crime,” Hizzoner said.

He also touted increased enforcement on ghost cars, illegal dumping and potholes — as well as “winning the war on rats,” which has been a pet cause for the mayor.

Adams also boasted an increase of 28,000 affordable housing units created or preserved in 2025.
