Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Alex Vesia and his wife, Kayla Vesia, have spoken openly about the devastating death of their newborn daughter, Sterling Sol, and the grief that they’ve endured.
Alex and Kayla, who have been married since January 2024, announced the next year that they were expecting their first baby. They confirmed their daughter’s death in a joint Instagram post on November 7, 2025.
“Sterling Sol Vesia. Our little angel we love you forever & you’re with us always. Our beautiful daughter went to heaven Sunday October 26th,” an Instagram post read. “There are no words to describe the pain we’re going through but we hold her in our hearts and cherish every second we had with her.”
Alex and Kayla also thanked the Dodgers and fans for their support, writing, “Our baseball family showed up for us and we wouldn’t be able to do this without them. Thank you Dodger Nation, Blue Jays organization and all baseball fans for your love and support. We have seen ALL your messages, comments and posts. It’s brought us so much comfort.”
Alex took a leave of absence from the Dodgers in October 2025 ahead of the 2025 World Series. He sat out the entirety of the championship, which the Dodgers ultimately won over the Toronto Blue Jays.
