An elderly driver in the midst of a possible stroke mowed down three pedestrians, leaving an 89-year-old woman dead and two others injured on a Brooklyn sidewalk Wednesday, police and sources said.
The 86-year-old motorist reversed his Chrysler Town and Country SUV and jumped the sidewalk before striking the three pedestrians near Neptune Avenue and W. 6th St. at 12:51 pm in Coney Island, according to cops.
“I saw the man back up and knock them down, and I started screaming,” a horrified witness told Pix 11.
“As I came closer, I recognized one of the women. It could’ve been me.”
The 89-year-old woman was rushed to NYU Langone Hospital, but could not be saved.
Two women — a 43-year-old and a 75-year-old — were taken to Maimonides Medical Center in stable condition.
“”They were all bloody. It was a mess,” the witness added.
“One woman was yelling in excruciating pain.”
Police did not charge the octogenarian driver with a crime.
Sources told The Post he suffered from a possible stroke at the time of the crash and remained on the scene.
He was taken to Maimonides Hospital, where he’s listed in stable condition.
The NYPD did not release the identity of the 86-year-old victim pending family notification.
