Daystar Television Network founder Joni Lamb died at age 65 following a decline in her health.
“With heavy hearts, we share the news that Joni Lamb graduated to Heaven this morning,” the Daystar Board of Directors said in a statement on Thursday, May 7. “We know that she is in the presence of Jesus, reunited with Marcus, and receiving her reward for a beautiful life lived in surrender to the Lord.”
The post continued: “Joni’s love for the Lord and for the people we serve shaped this ministry from the beginning. We grieve her loss, and we are grateful for the legacy of faith she leaves behind.”
The ministry confirmed that Lamb suffered from a back injury that coincided with ongoing health challenges. The injury “compounded those challenges and led to a more serious medical situation than anyone had anticipated.”
According to the statement, Lamb’s condition worsened in recent days despite receiving medical care and “the prayers of so many around the world.” Memorial details are expected to be announced at a later date as Lamb’s loved ones requested prayers and privacy.
Daystar also noted that there is already an executive leadership plan in place.
“Previously, (Joni Lamb) worked with the board to ensure an executive leadership team was in place so that the ministry would continue uninterrupted,” their press release continued, adding that programming will continue as scheduled.
The Christian TV network is expected to air tributes to Lamb, who cofounded Daystar in 1993 with her late husband, Marcus. Over the years, Daystar Television Network became one of the world’s largest Christian TV networks.
Lamb, for her part, spent nearly 40 years on air and as president of the network, which is based in Texas.

The bio continued: “Alongside her late husband and Daystar founder, Marcus Lamb, they turned one station into a broadcasting network that is in over 2.3 billion homes worldwide over all major cable carriers and satellite systems. Daystar reaches over 7 billion viewers, and it is the fastest growing faith-based television network in the world!”
Lamb is survived by husband Doug, her three children — Jonathan, Rachel and Rebecca — and their families.
