Chris Hughes is finally opening up about his budding romance with fellow Big Brother contestant, JoJo Siwa.
“Life has an unexpected way of bringing two people together, and this feels like that,” Hughes, 33, told The Sun’s Fabulous Magazine in an interview published on Saturday, July 12.
“We were meant to cross paths,” he continued. “We keep saying to each other it was serendipity. Life handed me a blessing in my lap.”
Hughes went on to tell the publication that when he met the Dance Moms alum, 22, he experienced a “magical feeling,” adding that he knew from the very beginning that she was “the most precious person.”
“I adored the ground she walked on and the way she handled herself,” he continued, sharing that his initial feelings only grew in intensity. After the show ended, he said they talked “all the time.” When he “flew to Mexico City to surprise her,” he said things changed during the course of what he referred to as the “Best three days of my life.”
“Our first kiss was genuinely special — it felt like I was in a movie,” he explained. “I can’t keep my hands off her now.
When it comes to saying those so-called “three little words,” Hughes says he tells Siwa he loves her “every day.”
“I can’t explain it, but it’s a safe love,” he added. “It’s like a natural high.”
After a cozy appearance on Big Brother UK and weeks of speculation, the pair confirmed their romantic relationship on June 2. Now, Hughes hopes that they’re both in it for the long haul.
“I’d love to marry her,” he confessed. “I’d be lying if I didn’t’ tell you I run through scenarios of our wedding day … We’d have a proper English wedding and I can imagine her in a full wedding dress.”
He continued, “We both want kids. We come from loving families. My mum loves her. She’s my best friend. I love that she’s the person I have to do nothing with and still have the best time. That’s everything to me.”
While plenty of fans are thrilled to see the pair publicly enjoy their relationship, others hare criticized them for their 11 year age gap. Hughes, however, is not focused on the outside noise.
“I don’t care,” he told the publication. “I wouldn’t go to the effort of loving someone for any other reason than it being real. Having been in this industry for eight years, I needed to adapt to having criticism from different angles. The past few months have actually made me a little stronger mentally.”
