One method that can, unfortunately, backfire is the non-refundable booking. From cruises and flights to hotels and holiday packages, you can save some serious cash by locking in your trip.
Yet life can come at you fast, and if your travel insurance doesn’t include cancellation cover, you could find yourself with some expensive tickets and no way to get your money back.
Enter: Transfer Travel. The resale platform allows you to list your non-refundable travel bookings, including cruises, flights, hotels, train or bus tickets and even full holiday packages, for other users to buy.
You get some of your money back, and the buyer gets to enjoy a holiday for less – it’s a win-win for all.
To protect the buyer, sellers have 72 hours to transfer the reservation into your name and upload the updated reservation into the system. Transfer Travel will hold onto the money for seven days, so it can’t be counterfeited or resold.
There are no fees for most listings (with the exception of vouchers, which cost €11.95 to list), but the company takes a 30% commission from the selling price.
