Bruce Springsteen was heavily involved in his upcoming biopic, Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere — much to the delight of the actor portraying him.

The music legend, 75, said in an interview with Rolling Stone, published on Thursday, June 19, that Jeremy Allen White was “very, very tolerant” of him during the days Springsteen appeared on set.

“I said to him, ‘Look, anytime I’m in the way, just give me the look and I’m on my way home.’ So the days that I got out there, he was wonderfully tolerant with me being there,” the “Dancing in the Dark” hitmaker told the outlet. “And it was just fun. It was enjoyable.”

White, 34, was seen channeling The Boss in the film’s first trailer, released on Wednesday, June 18, including moments that unveiled his musical talents. (Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere is scheduled for release on October 24.)

In the trailer, the Bear star is seen in character, strumming a guitar in a hotel room before a friend says, “Hey, Boss, can you do a mic check?” White then clears his throat before he is heard humming.

Another scene shows White playing the harmonica before he sings lyrics from Springstreen’s acclaimed “Nebraska.”

Springsteen admitted to Rolling Stone that being hands-on during the film’s process involved reliving moments from his past — which wasn’t easy.

“I mean, there’s some unusualness to it because the movie involves, in some ways, some of the most painful days of my life,” Springsteen explained. “But it was a great project, and Jeremy and Jeremy Strong [who plays manager Jon Landau] were both fantastic, terrific in it as were all the other actors.”

The singer also reflected on other casting choices, including Adolescence creator and star Stephen Graham, who portrays Springsteen’s father, Douglas.

“He’s out of this world, but everybody that was engaged in the film, they were all tremendous,” Springsteen said.

He added that he gave actors space to portray the characters away from him when it was necessary.

“Some of the scenes I wasn’t at. If there was a scene coming up that was sometimes really deeply personal, I wanted the actors to feel completely free, and I didn’t want to get in the way, and so I would just stay at home,” Springsteen said. “If Scott Cooper, the director, wanted or needed me there for something, I would try to make it.”

Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere will focus on the making of the artist’s 1982 album, Nebraska, and is an adaptation of Warren Zanes’ book of the same name.
