A 6-year-old girl from Brooklyn died in a suspected drowning when she was swept away by a strong current at a Southampton beach while on a family vacation.

Kiara Paolasin was found unresponsive in the waters of the Great Peconic Bay after she went into the water just after 8 a.m. on Saturday, the Southampton Town Police told The Southampton Press.

The little girl had trekked into the water before she fell in and was pulled by the current of the Sebonac Creek into the Great Peconic Bay, witnesses told the outlet.

A 16-year-old relative attempted to rescue Paolasin but was unable to because of the current.

Other family members got the attention of a kayaker who paddled over and pulled the unresponsive little girl out of the water and rowed to shore where first responders were waiting.

Paolasin was rushed to Stony Brook Southampton Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The heartbroken family had been on vacation in the tony Long Island enclave at the time.

The Southampton Town Police were investigating the suspected drowning.

An official cause of death hasn’t been released by the Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Thousands of New Yorkers had flocked to the Hamptons to enjoy the Fourth of July weekend at the various beaches the East End has to offer.

The temperature reached 92 degrees in Southampton on Saturday.

The area had been under extreme heat alerts from a heat wave that has scorched the New York metro region and Long Island.
